  • Major industries: On the strength of its large pool of competent workers and its well-developed high-tech
             industry, Israel has become the only industrialized country in the Middle East. Its exports are
             driven by electronics, metal, aeronautics and computers, while its diamond processing, biotech
             nology and high-tech agriculture are globally competitive.

Sisterhood History

  • Mayor Roni Milo visited Incheon in Oct. 1997, and offered to form a sisterhood relationship.
  • On Sept. 13, 1998, the mayors of the two cities met in Tel Aviv, and signed letters stating their intention to establish sisterhood ties.
  • Lee Changho, the Korean ambassador to Israel, and Arie Arazi, the Israeli ambassador to Korea, worked together from 1997 to 2000 to form sisterhood ties between the two cities.
  • The city of Tel Aviv has played a key role in the world's transit trade and managing the capital of Jews living in the US and in Europe.
  • Incheon was the first Asian city to form a sisterhood relationship with Tel Aviv, but has since been followed by Beijing.
  • As of 1999, about 300 Koreans reside in Israel (250 in Jerusalem, 30 in Tel Aviv, and 25 in other areas). During school vacations, the number of Koreans in Israel increases due to the hundreds of Korean students who working at kibbutzim.
  • As of 1999, 316 Koreans lived in Israel in 104 households, 190 of which (in 59 households) were employees of Korean companies.
