Ongjin Island grapes are not grown inside greenhouses, or ripened quickly through artificial means for an early harvest. The growth of these grapes is left entirely to the natural environment. With abundant exposure to the cool sea breeze, they slowly mature, until they are ready for harvest in late fall.
This gradual maturing process explains the high fructose content in these grapes and their distinctively strong aroma. These famously delicious grapes have a thick skin that protects them from rough sea gusts. This gives them a long storage life and a lasting freshness.
