Distinguished residents of Incheon, My name is Young-Gil Song, and I am the Mayor of Incheon. I hope to create a new Incheon, with 2.8 million Incheon residents. First of all, I welcome all of you to our new channel for boundless communication. A major player in the modern history of our nation, Incheon has taken a central role whenever our nation has been faced with crisis. Incheon has four potentials and possibilities.
First, Incheon has a high degree of openness and inclusiveness, as it is equipped with Incheon International Airport, the world’s No. 1 airport, and Incheon Port. Second, Incheon is the hub of Korea’s new growth engines in the 21st century, as it has the closest proximity to China, an emerging power, and is equipped with the free economic zone and the key infrastructure required to make it a logistics hub of Northeast Asia. Third, Incheon is the base for reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas, as it enjoys the highest accessibility to North Korea. Incheon Port has served as the gate for economic exchanges between the two Koreas. Fourth, Incheon has a population of 2.8 million residents, consisting of Incheon natives and people who have come to Incheon from all parts of the country. In this sense, it is a place where society can be integrated by eliminating regional conflicts and the divide between classes.
My dream is to transform Incheon into the heart of the nation, by sharing its limitless potential and possibilities with you. This space is a valuable communication channel between you and me. My goal is not only to manage the local economy and the livelihood of Incheon’s residents, but also to share wisdom with you that can help us turn Incheon’s crisis into an opportunity, changing the barrier of previous times into the gateway for communication. I dream of an Incheon that is governed by its citizens. Your dreams are my dreams. Let’s dream together to make these dreams come true.
