This is an advance notice regarding the decision to increase sewage utility charges across Incheon Metropolitan City in order to offer a more pleasant and safer living environment. The outgoing rate was previously undervalued compared to the cost of processing sewage produced in Incheon (cost: KRW 654.39/㎥ / charge: KRW 574.18/㎥). For better fiscal balance, the Metropolitan Government will increase the average rate by 10%. Please consult the following for more details.
■ Summary of New Sewage Utility Charges
○ Details: Average raise of 10% over three years (2020~2022)
○ Enforced Date: Enforcement pending on sewage utility charges for January 2020
※ If a household discharges an average of 10 tons of residential sewage per month, the sewage utility charge will rise by KRW 300 (from KRW 3,200 to KRW 3,500) per month.
■ The entirety of the additional funds secured through the increase in sewage utility charges shall be used for the following purposes:
○ Maintenance/repairs for old and deteriorated sewage pipes (replacement of old and deteriorated sewage pipes, maintenance of sewage pipes ahead of heavy rainfall, etc.)
○ Upgrades for sewage treatment facilities (modernization/expansion of public sewage treatment facilities, etc.)
