From January 5, 2021, all individuals who have yet to complete their militaryservice will be issued a 5-year multiple passport regardlessof whether they are approved for overseas travel.

Meanwhile, theMilitary Manpower Administration’s existing overseas travel permit system forthose who have not yet fulfilled their military service will remain in force. Thus,aside from applying for a passport, those who have yet to complete theirmilitary service must obtain permission from theCommissioner of the Military Manpower Administration in advance when travelingabroad. Individuals who have not obtaineda permit to travel overseas or sojourn abroad after their designated permissionperiod will be ordered to return their passport, upon which their passport willbe invalidated.
※ Please note that individuals who have not fulfilled their military servicecannot leave the country without permission to travel abroad even if they havea passport (governed in liaison with the Korea Immigration Service), and thevalidity period of a passport held by an individual residing abroad does notindicate the period for which they can travel or sojourn abroad.
