Incheon hosts “Love Incheon Discussion Forum” event to communicate and debate the City's future with 10 million Incheon citizens
- On November 11, the City hosted the “Love Incheon Discussion Forum” at the Songdo Convensia Grand Ballroom -- Event encouraged communication and dialogue to ensure the happiness of all 10 million Incheon citizens -Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor: Yoo Jeong-bok) hosted the “Love Incheon Discussion Forum” on November 11 at the Songdo Convensia Grand Ballroom (2F) to welcome the City’s new future as a major metropolis with 10 million citizens from all walks of life. 2023 Asia-Pacific Regional Symposium on SDGs gets underway in Songdo
- Discussion to focus on establishing governance and digital transformationto fulfill UN Sustainable Development Goals – Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor: Yoo Jeong-bok) announced that it hosted the 2023 Regional Symposium at Songdo Convensia from October 17 (Tue) to October 19 (Thu). UN Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) 7th Regional Symposium The event invited more than 1,500 public administrators, public officials, and academics from 46 countries across the Asia-Pacific and East Africa, and also officials from the United Nations. Available both online and in-person, the Symposium featured special sessions, plenary sessions, youth forums, and regional governance forums. This year’s Regional Symposium focused on “Leveraging Public Governance to Accelerate the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals – Transformation, Innovation Inclusion.” Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok and Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min each gave their welcome speeches to open the event, and Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon delivered the keynote speech. The Symposium looked back on items discussed during last September’s 2023 SDG Summit. Incheon hosts the 59th Citizens’ Day to commemorate the opening of Inner Port Piers 1 and 8

A large part of the event was the Incheon Harbor Festa 2023, featuring some of Korea’s top performers such as Ailee, Dynamic Duo, and Woongsan Band, as well as jazz and classical musicians from both Korea and abroad.The City also prepared football (soccer) programs, Korea Coast Guard programs, 119 fire safety classes, and a Street of Light photo zone for everyone to enjoy and experience.Later on in the day, drones and fireworks lit up the night sky, basking the Inner Port area in beautiful light and celebrating its return to the people.Yoo Yong-soo, Director of Incheon’s Administrative Bureau, said, “This year’s Citizens’ Day celebration felt particularly special as it commemorated the opening of Incheon Port’s Pier 1 and Pier 8, which was closed to the public for 140 years.” He added, “So many locals came out to celebrate Citizens’ Day with family and friends, making the event all the more meaningful.”Meanwhile, Incheon celebrates its Citizens’ Day on October 15 every year. On October 15 (according to the lunar calendar) in the 13th year of King Taejong's reign (1413 CE), the name “Incheon” appeared for the first time in history when the area was renamed Incheon-gun. Songdo’s own Garden of light... Media Art Festival gets underway from October 7 to 27
- Check out the 360° media façade show using lasers at the Tri-bowl -Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor: Yoo Jeong-bok) and Incheon Tourism Organization (CEO: Hyeon Baig) are hosting the “All Nights INCHEON Festival” to light up the night sky. The Festival gets underway at the Songdo Central Park on October 29 (Sun) between 18:00 and 22:00.The event will feature a 360° media façade show using lasers at the Tri-bowl building, which boasts one of the most unique designs in Songdo. The show will feature “The light of INCHEON,” which tells the brilliant history of Incheon as an urban center from its very beginning when the City emerged from the Yellow Sea and all the way to the day Incheon opened its gates to foreign powers, and “Strange screenscape of the city” by artist Nsyme, which captures Incheon’s “sunset, city, and space” using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Visitors can also meet a giant edition – an 8m balloon - of Incheon's official mascot “Bumy” inspired by a species of spotted seals found off the coast of Baengnyeongdo Island seal. Central Park itself will feature some beautiful light fixtures to create a special ambiance in the evening.During the Festival period, Incheon will offer a wide variety of events and activities across Songdo at night. Incheon subway and bus fares all set to go up on October 7
- Fares go up for the first time in eight years: subway fares now start from KRW 1,400 (up KRW 150), blue buses start from KRW 1,500 (up KRW 250) -- Bigger deficit of the public transportation network due to rising prices, and the need to replace old infrastructure drive the decision to adjust fares -Incheon is upping its subway and bus fares for the first time in eight years.Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor: Yoo Jeong-bok) announced that the City’s subway and bus fares will increase by KRW 150 and KRW 250, respectively, starting from the first train on October 7 (Sat).For an adult passenger paying by credit card, the base fare for the Incheon subway network will go from KRW 1,250 to KRW 1,400, and fares for the blue bus will go from KRW 1,250 to KRW 1,500. The ferry fare for local islanders will also increase to KRW 1,500.Meanwhile, Incheon has been preparing to increase its public transportation fares in line with the central government’s policies to adjust the prices of public services across the country. The City, however, trying to avoid steep adjustments in order to keep the impact on locals to a minimum given how the surge in prices has worsened the financial pressure on families over the past couple of years.Metropolitan area subway fares, along with Incheon subway lines 1 and 2, are also set to go up from KRW 1,250 to KRW 1,400 when paying by credit card (adult passengers) on October 7.
