Incheon Women's Safe Dream Mentoring Project with Mentors and Mentees
Mentors and mentees participating in Incheon's 'Women's Safe Dream Mentoring Project' held a meet-and-greet event at Bupyeong Art Center on the 17th.
The 'Women's Safe Dream Mentoring' project aims to minimize psychological trauma and support the recovery of daily life for women and children who have experienced sexual and domestic violence, and multicultural families, through 1:1 pairing with professional counselors from women's rights facilities in Incheon. The project is hosted annually by the city of Incheon.
The Incheon Counseling Center for Disabled and Women's Sexual Violence stated that through the tailored 'Women's Safe Dream Mentoring' project, they aim to raise awareness that violence is not an individual issue but a social one, and to increase safety while reducing violence through a tightly-knit social safety network.
Geomdan Prehistory Museum Offers Summer Vacation Educational Programs
The Geomdan Prehistory Museum in Incheon will run summer vacation educational programs titled 'Paleolithic Fashion King' and 'Our Neighborhood Archaeologist' from August 2nd to 13th.
The 'Paleolithic Fashion King' program, targeted at children aged 6 to second graders, will explore the clothing culture of the Paleolithic era and include an activity to make a leather card wallet.
'Our Neighborhood Archaeologist' is open to students from third to sixth grade, offering experiences in artifact excavation and restoration to give them a taste of the archaeologist profession.
Participation is free for children from 6 years old to elementary students, and registration can be made on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 12 participants per session through the city's integrated reservation system website.

A conference to commemorate the inauguration of the Smart Island Initiative Forum, themed 'Creating Smart and Sustainable Islands,' was held today (18th) at the Oakwood Hotel in Songdo, Incheon.
The Smart Island Initiative Forum is an organization composed of experts, including research commissioners from the Korea Island Development Institute, established to improve the quality of life for island residents.
During this conference, experts from various fields discussed exemplary cases of smart villages and directions for building smart islands through regulatory innovation.
In his congratulatory speech, Mungyeong-bok, the mayor of Ongjin County, said, "Due to the geographical characteristics of island regions, the quality of living conditions has deteriorated significantly, putting these areas at risk of depopulation," and expressed hope that the experts would present a bright future for the island regions through this forum.
Incheon Office of Education Expands 'One Student, One Sport' Program… Adding Archery and Fencing
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education is expanding its physical education program, which supports each student in learning at least one sport.
Starting next year, the 'One School, One Student, One Sport' education program will be expanded from the current 200 elementary schools to all 399 elementary and middle schools in Incheon.
The number of sports will increase from the current 14, including basketball, soccer, kendo, and jiu-jitsu, to 18, with the addition of archery, gymnastics, rugby, and fencing.
A representative from the Incheon Office of Education stated, "We aim to promote physical education to help students maintain a healthy life and provide them with more opportunities for diverse experiences."
