Incheon City to Transition Management of 11 Underground Shopping Malls to Public Institutions
Incheon City announced plans to transfer management of 11 of its 15 underground shopping malls, currently under the management of individual shopping mall corporations, to Incheon Facilities Management Corporation.
This transition to direct public management by the city’s institution is expected to improve stability and operational efficiency, ultimately contributing to the revitalization of the shopping malls.
Incheon City’s New Government Building to Break Ground in March, Completion Targeted for November 2028
Incheon City plans to construct a new government building adjacent to the current city hall in Namdong-gu, built in 1985.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for March next year, with completion targeted for November 2028. The new building will be a 15-story structure with four basement levels and a total floor area of 80,000 square meters, costing approximately 284.8 billion KRW.
City officials expect the new building to address future administrative demands, improve citizen convenience, and alleviate parking issues in the surrounding area.
Incheon City to Recruit New Participants for Carbon Neutral Points Program
Incheon City, in collaboration with the Carbon Neutral Research Support Center, is launching a new recruitment event for the Carbon Neutral Points Program.
This program incentivizes energy reduction in homes and commercial facilities by awarding points that can be converted to cash rewards. Participants who achieve a reduction of 5% or more in energy use, compared to the average of the previous one or two years, can receive up to 100,000 KRW per year, distributed biannually in June and December.
The recruitment event will be held from November 4 to December 13, aiming to raise awareness of energy conservation.
Incheon City Initiates Basic Plan for “Future City of the Next Century”
Incheon City has officially launched a task force to establish a basic plan for the city’s long-term transformation over the next 100 years.
At a report meeting attended by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, city officials, and relevant agencies, attendees shared the objectives and plan for the “2030 Incheon City Urban and Residential Environment Reorganization Basic Plan Feasibility Study and Redevelopment Basic Plan.”
The city will proceed with preliminary research, drafting of the basic plan, public reviews, and consultations with the city council, aiming to finalize and announce the plan by March 2026.
