Incheon Joins Forces with Intercity Bus Operators to Address Inconveniences 


On November 18th, Incheon held a “Meeting with Representatives of Intercity Bus Operators” in the City Hall conference room. 

This meeting was organized to discuss ways to enhance operational efficiency and requires the cooperation of bus operators in addressing inconveniences experienced by citizens following the implementation of Incheon’s semi-public intercity bus system. 

The bus operators conveyed difficulties related to the nationwide shortage of bus drivers, which has made recruitment challenging, as well as issues arising from the need to increase the number of buses. They also requested Incheon’s active support and attention to the recruitment of bus drivers. 

Incheon plans to address the fundamental issue of bus driver shortages by organizing recruitment fairs and establishing a driver training system. The city aims to improve intercity bus operation rates and stabilize the semi-public transportation system. 






Incheon Hosts Healing Workshop for Dementia Care Workers 


Incheon and the Incheon Dementia Center held the “2024 Dementia Management Healing Workshop” yesterday (18th) to recognize and boost the morale of workers dedicated to dementia care services.

During the workshop, awards and acknowledgements were given to outstanding institutions and staff who contributed to the development of dementia care initiatives.

Two outstanding workers received the Incheon City Mayor’s Award, while two institutions that demonstrated excellent performance in the dementia care program evaluation and three institutions recognized for exemplary practices were awarded the Director’s Award from the Incheon Dementia Center. 

An Incheon City official stated that they hope this healing workshop served as an opportunity for the workers to recover their depleted energy, and they will continue to provide unwavering support for their needs in the field. 






Two Urban Forests in Incheon Selected as National Exemplars 


Incheon announced that it has received certification from the Korea Forest Service for two “Exemplary Urban Forests” in 2024. 

The “Exemplary Urban Forests” certification is a system under the “Act on the Creation and Management of Urban Forests and Others,” where the Korea Forest Service Chief recognizes urban forests that are excellently created and managed. Certified management authorities receive a certificate and a plaque, with the certification remaining valid for five years. 

Among the five urban forests certified nationwide this year, Incheon’s selections include “World Peace Forest” in Jung-gu and “Inharo Ginkgo Tree Avenue” in Michuhol-gu. 





Learn Environmental Health Guidelines through Songs and Movements in Daily Life 


Incheon held the “Environmental Health Outreach Class” for elderly at senior welfare facilities in Ongjin-gun and Dong-gu on November 19th and 20th. 

The “Environmental Health Outreach Class” is an educational program designed to help children and elderly, who are vulnerable to environmental health risks, understand ways to reduce environmental hazards in daily life. This program was previously conducted in October for elementary school students in Beangnyeong Island, as well as elderly at senior welfare centers in Ganghwa, Michuhol, and Yeonsu. 

This time, the program focused on experiential activities, such as learning the “Safe Silver Life” environmental hazard song with trot music and dance moves. It also included education on reducing environmental hazards and choosing eco-friendly products, offering practical guidance that can be applied in daily life. 

An Incheon city official stated that they will continue to provide educational content tailored to the needs of the elderly, and actively promote environmental health education to help them lead healthy and fulfilling lives in their later years.
