Incheon Public Elementary Schools to Hold Pre-Enrollment Session Tomorrow for Student Safety


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced today (January 7) that 267 public elementary schools will conduct pre-enrollment sessions for incoming first-grade students.

The sessions will take place in person at each school starting at 2 PM. However, one national school and five private schools will hold their sessions on separate dates.

For those unable to attend due to unavoidable reasons, such as overseas travel, alternative safety checks will be conducted remotely, and enrollment procedures will be completed later.

The Office of Education stated that if students fail to attend the session, school authorities will contact the families via phone or conduct home visits. If the child’s whereabouts cannot be confirmed, the case will be referred to the police.





Dong District Recognized as Outstanding Local Government for Organizational Management


Incheon, Dong-gu has been selected as an outstanding local government in the 2024 organizational management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.


Dong-gu was the only local government among Incheon’s 10 districts and counties to receive this recognition.

The district earned high marks for restructuring its organization without increasing personnel by reallocating staff, such as disaster management specialists, based on priority needs, and streamlining team-level operations.






Booth-Style Shelters to Be Installed at Five Ground-Level Incheon Subway Stations


The Incheon city government will install booth-style shelters at five ground-level stations on Incheon Subway Lines 1 and 2, offering protection from extreme weather for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled.

The shelters will be completed by June, with a total budget of 950 million KRW. The designated stations include Gyeyang Station on Line 1 and Wanggil, Geomam, Gombawi, and Incheon Grand Park Stations on Line 2.

Each shelter will feature automatic doors, heating and cooling systems, seating, lighting, communication devices, voice guidance systems, and CCTV, ensuring passengers can wait comfortably and safely during heatwaves or cold spells.





Incheon Education Office Launches High School Exchange Program with New York City


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will partner with the New York City Department of Education to launch the ‘Incheon-New York High School Student Exchange Program,’ the first of its kind in Korea.

This initiative, agreed upon by Superintendent Do Seong-hoon and Deputy Chancellor Daniel Wiesberg in July last year, aims to enhance cultural understanding and global competencies through student exchanges.

In March 2025, 30 students from Incheon will visit New York to participate in high school classes, engage in cultural, historical, and career exploration activities, and experience local life. In July, students from New York will visit Incheon for similar activities.
