Incheon to Create High-Precision Digital Maps Updated Annually — First in Korea
Incheon Metropolitan City has been selected as the top winner in the ‘2025 High-Precision Digital Map Challenge Project’ led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
As a result, Incheon plans to transform its system for updating high-precision digital maps.
The project aims to build digital maps and digital twins for data-based administrative services and private sector use. It will be funded equally by the national and local governments.
This annual map update system, the first case among major cities and provinces in Korea, is expected to be introduced on a trial basis in 2026.
Incheon Opens Applications for Gift Providers for Local Donation Program
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting suppliers to provide gifts for the ‘Incheon Love Donation Program’ to promote a culture of giving and support the local economy.
Eligible applicants must have business operations in Incheon and be able to produce, manufacture, and deliver approved gift items. The categories include agricultural, livestock, and seafood products, processed foods, industrial goods, crafts, and tourism services.
The city will select the final suppliers through a review by the Gift Selection Committee in March. The chosen suppliers will offer their products for one year starting in late April 2025.
Incheon Launches Senior Helper Program for Passport Services
Incheon Metropolitan City has officially launched its senior helper program for passport services following last year’s pilot project.
The program hires seniors aged 65 and older as passport service assistants. It will run for 10 months, from February to November, helping visitors with the entire passport application process, from guiding documents to completing forms.
Last year, 70% of visitors to passport offices received assistance from senior helpers, allowing them to complete their applications quickly, with high satisfaction rates reported.
Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra to Hold 429th Regular Concert
The Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its 429th regular concert, 2025 Classic Essence I: Bruckner Symphony No. 9, on Saturday, February 15, at 5 p.m. at Art Center Incheon Concert Hall.
The Classic Essence series, which started in 2024 to present the essence of classical music, continues this year with diverse programs for audiences.
Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9, composed during his declining health, is his final work. The piece reflects the composer’s spiritual depth and inner world. The concert will feature the 1951 Nowak version.
