Incheon City Announces First Half Public Contest for Resident Safety Prevention Facilities


Incheon City has announced plans to hold a public contest for facilities aimed at protecting residents from traffic accidents, crime, and disasters.

The city plans to select projects from two districts/counties after going through the first half's project planning, public contest, and evaluation process, with facilities to be installed between July and October.

A total of 200 million won in city budget will be provided for this public contest project.




Incheon City Makes Another Bid for UNESCO Creative City of Design


Incheon City is making another attempt to be designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Design.

According to Incheon City, they will commission a UNESCO Creative City strategy development consultation project in March, with a budget of 70 million won.

The consultation period will run until September, with plans to develop detailed action plans utilizing Incheon's cultural assets and establish citizen visions and goals linked to the UNESCO network.

Through this consultation, the city plans to examine Incheon's socio-economic background, current status of creative industries, quantitative and qualitative impacts of joining the Creative Cities network, and ways to build cooperation systems with citizens and businesses.





Mayor Jeong-bok Yoo Discusses Friendship and Cooperation with Chinese Ambassador to Korea


Incheon City is moving forward to strengthen friendly cooperation between Incheon and China and promote substantial exchanges.

Yesterday (9th), Incheon Mayor Jeong-bok Yoo met with the new Chinese Ambassador to Korea, Dai Bing, at G-Tower in Songdo International City, Yeonsu-gu, to congratulate him on his appointment and exchange views on ways to promote friendly cooperation between Korean and Chinese local governments.

Ambassador Dai Bing emphasized that "Korea and China are the closest neighbors" and "I hope that both countries will work together to discover new growth engines and achieve practical cooperation amid the current international and regional situation."



Bird Detection Radar Installation Planned for Baengnyeong Airport


A bird detection radar system is expected to be installed at Incheon's Baengnyeong Airport, which is being constructed on the northernmost island in the West Sea.

The government has introduced this preventive measure after concerns were raised about the possibility of bird strikes, as bird habitats are known to exist near the Baengnyeong Airport.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will actively incorporate the installation of bird detection radar systems in the construction plans for new airports, including Baengnyeong Airport.
