Incheon City Intensifies Diabetes Prevention Efforts


The Incheon Metropolitan City has announced the establishment of a dedicated diabetes team within the Support Group for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Management, scheduled to commence operations in March.

This pioneering policy is the first of its kind among local governments in the nation, with the aim of enhancing the diabetes prevention and management system for Incheon residents.

Through the operation of this dedicated team, Incheon City plans to focus on raising diabetes awareness, conductinglectures, and providing educational programs. Furthermore, the city aims to secure a budget to establish and operate a separate diabetes center in the future. 





Incheon City Announces 2025 Youth Diaspora Video Contest


"Incheon Metropolitan City has declared the commencement of the '2025 Incheon Youth Diaspora Video Contest.’

The very purpose of the contest is to broaden the youth's knowledge of diaspora life, culture, and history, encouraging the development of societal values that honor cultural diversity.

Diaspora, meaning the dispersion of a particular ethnic group from its homeland to other regions forming new communities, is the central theme. The contest is open to nationwide youth aged 9 to 24, calling for videos on diaspora, cultural diversity, and Incheon promotion."





Comprehensive Survey of Recreational Water Facility Quality


The Incheon Metropolitan City Institute of Health and Environment has announced its intention to carry out a comprehensive survey of water quality in recreational water facilities, with plans to recommend customized management solutions.

Recreational water facilities, including ground fountains and play structures, utilize circulating tap water or groundwater, allowing for direct user interaction. These facilities are prone to external contamination and microbial growth, especially in the summer, requiring systematic management practices such as disinfection.

Through this survey, the Institute will examine 28 modern hazardous substances to provide a detailed analysis of the current water quality.






Public-Private Council Initiated for the Opening of the Third Yeonyuk Bridge


The Incheon Free Economic Zone has initiated a public-private council to prepare for the opening of the Third Yeonyuk Bridge by the end of this year.

Yesterday, IFEZ held the first meeting of the 'Third Yeonyuk Public-Private Council,' which included participation from the National Assembly, City Council, local residents, and organizations. The meeting focused on sharing the progress and issues regarding the bridge, which is currently 77% complete.

The Third Yeonyuk Bridge, the third maritime bridge connecting Yeongjong Island, home to Incheon International Airport, with the mainland, is being constructed with a total project cost of 770 billion won. The bridge will span 4.68 kilometers in length and 30 meters in width.

IFEZ plans to work with the public-private council to address various issues, including the naming of the bridge, negotiations on compensation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and the bridge's development as a tourism resource.
