Incheon’s 3rd Link Bridge Observatory Aims for World Record

The observatory being built on Incheon’s 3rd Link Bridge is in the process of being officially recognized as the tallest bridge observatory in the world.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) announced plans to install a 180-meter-high observatory on the bridge’s main tower, aiming to have it certified as the world’s tallest.

IFEZ plans to seek official registration with the Guinness World Records and the World Record Committee in the U.S. when the bridge opens this December.

An IFEZ official stated, “We aim to promote the 3rd Link Bridge as a global tourist destination by showcasing its technological value through this world record.”

Incheon Again Urges Special Opportunity Zone Designation for Border Counties

Incheon City has once again urged the government to designate the border, Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun as “Opportunity Development Zones” to combat population decline.

Following a similar request in March, the city reiterated its appeal on June 24 to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development.

Opportunity Development Zones are designated areas in non-metropolitan, border, or depopulated regions that receive regulatory exemptions and financial support to attract large-scale investment and create quality jobs.

Ganghwa and Ongjin face increasing regional decline due to overlapping regulations such as military facility protection zones and the Capital Region Readjustment Planning Act. The city emphasized the need for fair compensation for residents who have long endured these restrictions.

The inspection, conducted by the city’s Food Safety Policy Division and Health & Environment Research Center from March to June, confirmed that no preservatives or 3-MCPD—a harmful compound formed during plant protein hydrolysis—were detected in any of the products.

Incheon is also promoting various life-stage wellness programs and will soon launch a special “Incheon Wellness Stay” campaign through online travel platforms.
