Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok Intensifies Discussions with Georgia Tech President on Establishing AI Advanced Autonomous Manufacturing Research Institute
The establishment of a Georgia Tech research institute in Incheon is expected to be pursued in earnest.
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that on the 11th (local time), Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok visited the Georgia Tech main campus in Atlanta, USA, and discussed various measures for mutual cooperation with Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera, including the establishment of a Georgia Tech research institute and global industry-academia cooperation in AI advanced autonomous manufacturing.
This visit is highly significant as it advanced additional discussions on establishing a research institute in Incheon and confirmed mutual commitment, based on the mutual cooperation agreement signed between the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) and Georgia Tech last June.
IFEZ plans to begin working-level consultations with Georgia Tech soon.
Incheon Global Campus Reaches 99.8% Capacity... Phase 2 Development Service Project Begins
Procedures related to the Phase 2 development project to expand the Incheon Global Campus (IGC), which has reached saturation, are officially beginning.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced that it has commenced a service project for IGC Phase 2 development and establishment of mid-to-long-term development strategies within Songdo International City.
IFEZ decided to spend 300 million won by December to analyze the feasibility of the IGC Phase 2 project and prepare development strategies necessary for activating industry-academia cooperation.
IFEZ plans to attract 5 universities and 5,000 students to the Phase 2 campus as well, creating a global campus with a total of 10 universities and 10,000 students.
Incheon City Conducts Special Hygiene Education for Food and Beverage Facility Workers for 2025 APEC 3rd Senior Officials' Meeting
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it conducted special hygiene education for food service workers and others at food and beverage facilities from July 7th to 11th in preparation for the 2025 APEC 3rd Senior Officials' Meeting.
This education was designed to strengthen hygiene and safety management of food and beverages to be provided during the meeting period from July 26th to August 15th at Songdo Convensia, and to prevent food safety accidents such as food poisoning in advance.
The education targeted approximately 200 food service workers from facilities that will provide food and beverages for the meeting. Customized education was conducted on ▲ hygiene management throughout the entire process from ingredient inspection and storage to cooking and serving ▲ management methods for cooking facilities and equipment/machinery ▲ hygiene management guidelines for kitchens and workers ▲ preservation food storage, and other topics.
In addition to this education, Incheon City plans to conduct preliminary hygiene inspections of food and beverage facilities before the event, and during the meeting period, will work together with the Gyeongin Regional Food and Drug Administration to carry out ingredient inspection and food testing, rapid food poisoning tests, and other measures.

The Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra is recruiting participants for the "Master Class - Violin" being held as part of an educational program to discover classical music prodigies and nurture musicians in the region.
The application period is from August 4th until 6 PM on August 8th, and applications are accepted via email.
Elementary, middle, and high school students located in Incheon City can apply, and they must submit a video file of performing one piece of free choice along with related documents.
The final successful candidates will be announced at 5 PM on August 19th through the Incheon Culture and Arts Center website.
Yeonsu Launches Home Rehabilitation Service for Medically Vulnerable Groups
Yeonsu-gu in Incheon City announced that it will launch a home rehabilitation service for medically vulnerable groups on the 17th to help support healthy lives for those with limited access to medical care.
This project is a "visiting health care rehabilitation service" where professional staff directly visit the homes of medically vulnerable groups to assess physical function and provide customized rehabilitation services.
The main services include functional electrical stimulation therapy, muscle taping, muscle stretching and strength training education, distribution of topical analgesics, balance improvement exercises, and fall prevention guidelines, along with health information that can be easily practiced in daily life.
