‘Center for Korean Culture and Society’ Opens in Songdo, Incheon


Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced the opening of a Center for Korean Culture and Society at George Mason University Korea in Songdo International City.

As a research hub dedicated to studying Korean culture and content while nurturing related talent, the center plans to host academic conferences, lead research projects, support the training of cultural industry experts, promote industry-academia cooperation, and offer training programs for overseas students.

IFEZ expects the new center to create strong synergy with its K-Con Land project, which aims to foster the video and cultural industries.





Incheon City to Expand Drone-Based Coastal Waste Transport Across Ongjin-gun


Incheon City has announced plans to expand its drone-based coastal waste transport project to all areas of Ongjin-gun starting next year.

The project was launched to reduce labor burdens and safety risks for workers traveling between the coast and transport vessels by deploying drones capable of carrying up to 300 kilograms of waste, with the goal of addressing the challenge of collecting waste from hard-to-reach coastal regions.

Moving forward, the city plans to integrate this initiative with its “Smart Marine Village” project to establish a sustainable, drone-based marine environment management system.





Incheon Launches Phase 3 of Songdo American Town Project


The third phase of the Incheon American Town Project—designed to provide housing for overseas Koreans returning to Incheon—is now underway.

According to Incheon Global City Corporation, the project will be developed in Songdo 11th District in Yeonsu-gu.

The 109,722-square-meter site will include 1,745 apartment units in a single complex, comprising 120 units of 72㎡, 1,240 units of 84㎡, and 168 units each of 94㎡ and 110㎡.





Incheon and City Office of Education to Establish Korea’s First Hospital-Based Wee Center


The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education has signed a business agreement with Incheon city to establish and operate the nation’s first hospital-based “Wee Center.”

This collaboration aims to support mental health recovery for adolescents by offering inpatient facilities within Incheon Medical Center—complete with accredited academic programs—and support systems for students experiencing emotional or psychological crises.

Under the agreement, the city’s Health and Welfare Bureau will utilize the medical center’s resources to provide mental health services, while the Office of Education will oversee early intervention, case management, and academic support within schools.





Incheon Institute and Korea Island Development Institute Sign MOU for Island and Marine Policy Research


The Incheon Institute announced that it has signed an MOU titled ‘Agreement to Strengthen Cooperation in Island and Marine Policy Research’ with the Korea Island Development Institute (KIDI), which aims to enhance the promotion of island regions and the development of marine policies. 

Under the agreement, both organizations will jointly conduct research on tourism, transportation, logistics, and welfare policies related to island and marine regions. They will also co-host academic events and exchange domestic and international research projects.

Previously, the Incheon Institute developed the “Incheon I-Sea Pass” policy implemented by the city earlier this year, which reduced coastal ferry fares to the same level as city bus fares.
