Incheon Inspects 219 Food Businesses Ahead of Lunar New Year


Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct intensive hygiene inspections of peak-season food products from Jan. 19 to 23, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. The city, together with each district and country, plans to inspect 219 businesses handling food products for ancestral rite tables and processed foods for holiday gifts.The inspection will also cover ready-to-sell food shops, health functional food sellers and large distribution and retail outlets. If substandard products are found, the city will immediately order recalls and disposal, providing guidance on proper hygiene management.





Incheon Defense Venture Center to Open in Songdo Next Month


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the Incheon Defense Venture Center will open next month at the Songdo Get Pearl Tower. Operated jointly by the city and the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning & Advancement (KRIT), the center will support local companies to enter the defense industry market by providing help in technology development, building defense networks, and export and marketing. The city also aims to attract a defense innovation cluster to Incheon, covering fields such as aviation and space, unmanned aerial vehicles, and aircraft maintenance.





Incheon Office of Education Wins Awards at 2025 School Violence Prevention Contest


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has won awards in last year’s Best Practices Contest for School Violence Prevention Program. Hosted by the Education Ministry and 17 metropolitan and provincial education offices, and organized by the Korea Youth Policy Institute, the contest was held under the theme, “Classrooms for Everyone Without School Violence.” The Incheon Office of Education won awards in the school, teacher and student categories, with winning cases to be shared nationwide through the School Violence Prevention Education Support Center website, the Dorandoran cyber-violence prevention service, and the Ministry of Education’s YouTube channel.





Incheon Recruits Livestock Suppliers for 194 Schools 


Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting suppliers to participate in the 2026 school meal livestock product supply program. The project aims to systematically manage the safety and quality of livestock products used in school meals and strengthen transparency throughout the distribution process, creating a meal environment trusted by parents and citizens. Selected suppliers will provide Grade 2 or higher beef and pork for one year starting in March to 194 participating kindergartens and elementary, middle, high, and special education schools in Incheon.





Incheon Education Office to Strength Customized Support for Students Learning Disabilities 


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will strengthen support this year for students with dyslexia and borderline intellectual functioning. The Incheon Learning Comprehensive Clinic Center held meetings of the Dyslexia Student Support Committee and the Borderline Intelligence Student Support Council to review the basic student support plan for the 2026 school year. After discussing the customized support system, which follows the process of in-depth assessment, diagnosis, tailored support and growth report for students facing learning difficulties due to special factors, the office decided to strengthen links with school-based learning support.





Traveling Librarians to be Recruited for Small Libraries


Sintri, Bupyeong, and Hwadojin libraries under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced they are recruiting traveling librarians for small libraries in 2026, to support operations and provide higher-quality reading environments for local residents. Recruitment and operation will be conducted separately by each library, and selected librarians will visit designated small libraries from February to November, for 10 months, supporting overall operations. The traveling librarians will be tasked with collection management, staff training, and planning and running reading culture programs. The traveling librarian program is expected to revitalize small libraries facing staff shortages and strengthen cooperation with public libraries in the region.
