Incheon delivers holiday gifts to democracy movement contributors
Incheon Metropolitan City held a ceremony to deliver holiday gifts to distinguished individuals recognized for their contributions to the democracy movement and their bereaved families. The event was part of a broader campaign promoting local agricultural product consumption and community sharing. A total of 50 fruit gift sets will be delivered sequentially through the Incheon Democracy Movement Center.
Incheon publishes youth-inspired city trend book Incheon LocaL
Incheon Metropolitan City has published a trend book titled Incheon LocaL, highlighting the city’s identity through the perspective of young people. The book will be distributed free of charge to residents on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Under the theme “A city begins with its people,” the book features stories and insights from 16 teams of young local creators active in Incheon. It reinterprets the city’s spaces, people, and brands through the sensibilities of the younger generation.
Songam Art Museum runs ‘The Tiger That Came Out of the Painting’ children’s program
Incheon’s Songam Art Museum will operate an early childhood educational program titled “The Tiger That Came Out of the Painting.” The program will run from March to June for children aged six to seven. Children will view animations and learn about the meaning and characteristics of traditional Korean folk paintings, complete activity worksheets, decorate a magpie-and-tiger-themed bag, and tour the museum’s related exhibition hall. Classes will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday morning from March 2 to June 30. The program is open to kindergarten and daycare groups within Incheon.
Incheon coastal ferry operations to increase during Lunar New Year holiday
Passenger numbers on coastal ferries connecting Incheon’s islands and the mainland are expected to peak on the 16th, the day before Lunar New Year. The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries estimates that about 21,500 passengers will use coastal ferries between February 13 and 18. The figure is about 3 percent higher than the average of 20,888 passengers recorded for the past five years. To accommodate demand, ferry operations will increase from the usual 345 trips to 384 trips during the holiday period.
Incheon urges respiratory infection prevention for safe Lunar New Year holiday
Incheon Metropolitan City has urged residents to follow respiratory infection prevention guidelines as travel and gatherings increase during the holiday period. Influenza risks remain prevalent and residents are advised to practice proper cough etiquette, wash hands correctly, ventilate indoor spaces, and visit medical institutions promptly if symptoms develop. High-risk individuals who have not yet been vaccinated are encouraged to receive influenza vaccination as soon as possible.
Incheon conducts fire safety campaign ahead of Lunar New Year
Incheon Metropolitan City has carried out a fire safety prevention campaign at Geomdan Sageori Station ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. The campaign was conducted jointly with Seo-gu and civic groups. It focused on checking potential fire hazards such as electrical appliances and outlets, which may pose risks during travel or extended absences. At the site, officials distributed fire safety action guidelines and simple self-inspection checklists for households. Safety information materials useful during the holiday period were also provided.
Incheon Defense Venture Center opens in Songdo
The Incheon Defense Venture Center’s opening ceremony was held at G-Tower in Songdo International City, with its vision for an “Incheon-style defense industry” unveiled. The center was established in cooperation with the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement and other related agencies. The center is expected to serve as a starting point for attracting a defense innovation cluster to Incheon. The central government requires the establishment of a defense venture center as a condition for participation in the national defense innovation cluster program. Among 11 centers nationwide, Incheon is the first in the Seoul metropolitan area. The city plans to gradually build a defense innovation cluster integrating defense, aviation, and advanced industries, leveraging Incheon’s airport, port, and large industrial complexes.
