Toll exemptions for Cheongna Haneul Bridge to be expanded to all Incheon residents
Toll exemptions for the Cheongna Haneul Bridge will be expanded to include all Incheon residents starting next month. Since the bridge opened on January 5, toll discounts had been offered to residents of Yeongjong and Cheongna International City, as well as Bukdo-myeon in Ongjin-gun. Since establishing the discount system, the city has now expanded the benefits to city-wide exemptions. Incheon residents can apply for toll exemptions by registering their Hi-Pass card and vehicle number through the toll system website beginning on March 30, and the exemptions will begin April 6.
Incheon to develop Hwaseo Pier area into specialized root industry complex
The Hwaseo Pier area in Hwasu-dong, Dong-gu will be transformed into a hub for root industries such as materials, components, and equipment. Incheon Metropolitan City has released plans for a city regeneration project to develop the pier, once one of Incheon’s representative fishing ports, into a mixed-use economic hub with industrial, commercial, and residential functions. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated the 61,000-square-meter site as a national pilot innovation district in 2024, and government support was confirmed in December last year following review by the Urban Regeneration Special Committee. Facilities such as a master craftsman training center, a root industry innovation platform, and job and startup support centers will be established to revitalize nearby aging industrial areas and create quality jobs.
Incheon improves public access to 1883 Gaehang Plaza using abandoned rail site
Public access to 1883 Gaehang Plaza is expected to greatly improve with the construction of a new access road using part of a disused railway site now complete. Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the newly built access road measures 12 meters in length and 10 meters in width, directly connecting the existing temporary pedestrian path along Injung-ro to the square. This allows movement through the previously restricted abandoned rail site, significantly improving pedestrian conditions. With the new route, a continuous pedestrian path linking the Open Port area, temporary walkway, and Gaehang Plaza has been completed, greatly enhancing accessibility and transforming the surrounding area into an open urban space.
Incheon to recruit young adults with developmental disabilities for savings program
Incheon City will recruit 200 participants for its 2026 “Happiness Seed Savings Account” program, which supports asset building for young adults with developmental disabilities. Launched in 2021, the program is designed to help participants achieve greater independence.Under the program, participants save 150,000 won per month for three years, with the city and local governments matching the amount, bringing the total monthly savings to 300,000 won.Applications will be accepted from March 23 to April 3 at local administrative welfare centers, where applicants must submit identification.
Incheon launches full service of latest aerial and satellite imagery
Incheon Metropolitan City will expand high-quality spatial data services by providing the latest aerial and satellite imagery through its “iMap” portal. The newly available aerial images were produced using 2025 data from the National Geographic Information Institute, and offer high-resolution coverage of the entire city, spanning 686.37 square kilometers. Since 1985, Incheon has produced annual aerial images for use in public land management, monitoring changes in terrain and structures, and urban planning. With this latest update, the city has further enhanced its integrated image service system covering all of Incheon.
Incheon recruits youth supporters to create unification content
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting participants for the “2026 Incheon Unification Plus Center Youth Supporters” program from March 23 to April 3. The initiative aims to promote youth-led production and dissemination of peace and unification-related content. It is also intended to build intergenerational consensus on unification and raise awareness of the Incheon Unification Plus Center through social media outreach. Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 39, either residing in Incheon or enrolled at a university in the city. Up to 10 participants will be selected for the program.
