Incheon cracks down on 14 companies for violating dust control regulations


The Incheon Special Judicial Police has announced that 14 companies were caught violating the Clean Air Conservation Act, following a targeted inspection of construction sites from March 11 to 20. The inspections focused on compliance with dust suppression measures, including installation and operation of fixed and mobile water spraying systems, washing of transport vehicles, and installation of dust barriers. Five sites were found to have reported installing mobile spraying systems but failing to actually use them, and carrying out soil transport without dust control measures. The city plans to conduct further investigations into intent and refer the cases to prosecutors.





Incheon steps up safety checks on drinking water for children


The Incheon Waterworks Headquarters will continue its detailed safety inspections of drinking water used by children at schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers. The initiative began in 2021 in cooperation with the Incheon Childcare Association to create a healthier water environment for children. This year’s inspections will run from April to October, covering 132 facilities. All 60 items under national drinking water quality standards will be tested, with samples collected on-site and analyzed at a specialized water research institute.





Incheon Library unveils new identity following rebranding


Incheon Metropolitan City’s Incheon Library has introduced a new corporate identity (CI) reflecting its updated name and renewed role. The new design follows the library’s name change from Michuhol Library to Incheon Library last September, with a focus on establishing a clearer identity and a more approachable image for citizens. The new symbolic image for the library combines a staircase motif with the image of an open book, and symbolizes “a space where dreams of learning unfold through reading.”





Dongincheon Art Cube launches year-round cultural programs


Incheon Metropolitan City will begin full-scale operation of culture and arts programs at the Dongincheon Art Cube starting March 31. The programs will be in partnership with the Incheon Tourism Organization. As a key cultural space in the city’s old downtown, the center will host programs throughout the year beginning with a regular performance on opening day. The space will offer a mix of performances, hands-on activities, and participatory programs, including live music events such as the “Here and There Concert” series and stages for local artists. The opening event on March 31 will feature live performances along with a flea market and interactive booths for public participation.





Incheon recruits participants for ‘100 Dads’ Group’ to promote shared parenting


Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting participants for the 8th class of “Incheon 100 Dads’ Group” for 2026, in partnership with the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association’s Incheon branch. The program encourages fathers to take a more active role in parenting and aims to foster a culture of shared childcare. It serves as a representative parenting support initiative where first-time fathers share experiences and build bonds with their children through various online and offline activities. Applications are open to 100 fathers living in Incheon who are raising children born between 2018 and 2023. 





Incheon pushes comprehensive fine dust reduction measures for cleaner air


Incheon Metropolitan City will implement 78 fine dust reduction projects across six sectors in collaboration with related institutions, including the Yeongheung Power Plant, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and the Incheon Port Authority. The city has set its 2026 target concentrations at 17㎍/㎥ for PM2.5 and 32㎍/㎥ for PM10. The measures focus on key emission sources such as power generation, industry, transportation, ports, aviation, and fugitive dust, while also aiming to reduce greenhouse gases and protect vulnerable populations.

During the winter season, when pollution levels peak, the city will strengthen controls through a seasonal management system and implement emergency reduction measures when high pollution alerts are issued.
