Incheon to host 37th Korea Dance Festival in 2028
Incheon Metropolitan City has secured the bid to host the 37th Korea Dance Festival in 2028.The festival, one of Korea’s largest dance events, will feature major dance companies from 17 cities and provinces, and is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors and generate an economic impact of 23.8 billion won. The event will run for 15 days from Sept. 10 to 24, 2028, at major venues including the Incheon Culture & Arts Center and Bupyeong Art Center. Organized jointly by the city and the Dance Association of Korea, the festival will go beyond competition to showcase contemporary dance trends.
Incheon builds one-stop dispute resolution system for multi-unit buildings
Incheon Metropolitan City has established a citizen-centered, one-stop system to resolve disputes in multi-unit buildings such as officetels and commercial complexes. The system includes a management support group, an open consultation office, and a dispute mediation committee to provide comprehensive support from consultation to resolution. As multi-unit buildings increase in number and diversity, conflicts over maintenance fees, management appointments, and shared space usage have also grown. Residents can apply for consultation or mediation by downloading the application form from the city’s website and submitting it via fax or mail.
Incheon extends grace period for dangerous dog ownership licensing system
Incheon Metropolitan City will extend the grace period for dangerous dog ownership licensing until Dec. 31. The system, introduced on April 27, 2024, aims to prevent dog attacks and promote safe coexistence between residents and pets by evaluating a dog’s aggressiveness and the owner’s control ability. The permit applies to dogs classified as “dangerous” under the Animal Protection Act, as well as those designated as such following temperament evaluations due to aggressive behavior or incidents.
Geomdan–Dream-ro connecting road to open April 8
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) have announced that the Geomdan-Dream-ro connecting road will officially open at 2 p.m. on April 8. The 3.59-kilometer, four-lane road connects Seo-gu’s Geomdan with Dream-ro in Gyeyang-gu, and is part of Metropolitan Road 52, which stretches a total of 19.7 km. The connecting road was completed after more than five years of construction with a total project cost of 158.1 billion won. Once the road opens, traffic on Jangje-ro, a section prone to chronic congestion during rush hour, is expected to be dispersed, improving travel convenience to Gyeyang-gu and the northwestern region of Seoul.
Delayed administrative process disrupts move-in plans at Incheon Port Hinterland
Despite a police investigation clearing allegations of illegal subletting at the Incheon Port Hinterland, delayed administrative procedures are causing disruptions for companies preparing to move in. According to the Incheon Port Authority (IPA), three companies were selected last July as preferred bidders for temporary use of a container terminal site at Incheon New Port (Phase 1-3). However, after allegations of illegal subletting were raised during a National Assembly audit, follow-up administrative procedures were suspended. IPA has stated that it will decide whether to resume the process only after implementing stronger measures to prevent illegal subletting.
Incheon invests 2.2 billion won to boost robotics industry growth
To promote innovation and global competitiveness in the local robotics industry, Incheon Metropolitan City will officially launch the “2026 Robot Industry Innovation Growth Support Project,” worth a total of 2.2 billion won. The initiative aims to support business growth, strengthen industry-academia cooperation, and expand robotics culture. The program will be managed by Incheon Technopark, which will provide tailored support to companies.The city plans to strengthen the foundation of the robot industry by providing customized support to a total of 34 companies and institutions this year.
