Incheon to Conduct GPR Survey to Prevent Sinkholes
Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys to proactively address the recent rise in sinkhole incidents. The city will invest 540 million won to carry out detailed inspections over six months starting next month, covering 229 kilometers of roads, including 187 km of driveways and 42 km of sidewalks. If underground cavities are detected, high-risk areas will undergo drilling and internal imaging to identify causes, followed by restoration using eco-friendly flowable fill materials. In addition, data obtained during the exploration process will also be integrated into the city’s geographic information system (GIS) to support systematic underground safety management.
Incheon to Adjust Timetable of M6751 Express Bus for Improved Convenience
Incheon Metropolitan City will adjust the operating schedule of the M6751 Metropolitan Express Bus route starting May 4 to better reflect passenger demand. The direct non-stop route connects the main gate of e-Pyeonhansesang Songdo with Exit 6 of Gongdeok Station in Seoul stopping only at Central Park Station and Yeouido. Although increased bus frequency since November 2025 has improved convenience, calls for schedule adjustments continued. Following six months of monitoring, the city will advance the departure time for the first inbound bus headed towards Seoul by around 10 minutes to better align with morning commuting hours, while outbound schedules for buses returning to Incheon will also be adjusted to reflect user demand.
Incheon Finalizes Revised 2030 Urban & Residential Environment Improvement Plan
Incheon Metropolitan City will officially confirm and publish revisions to its “2030 Master Plan for Urban and Residential Environment Improvement.” The revisions aim to address shortcomings identified during redevelopment projects in Incheon’s old downtown areas and improve administrative efficiency. Taking into account on-site conditions such as fluctuations in the construction market, revisions focused on feasibility of redevelopment projects and on updating administrative standards regarding the establishment and operation of redevelopment plans. Key changes include increasing floor area ratios in third-class general residential zones, easing resident consent requirements for district-led planning, and refining standards for public contributions and infrastructure calculations.
Incheon Launches Support Program for Quantum Computing Businesses
Incheon Metropolitan City is accelerating efforts to build a quantum computing ecosystem, a key pillar of future advanced technologies by launching a support program for local companies. In partnership with Yonsei University, the city will recruit companies to participate in the “2026 Incheon Quantum Computing Utilization Support Program.” The initiative aims to provide access to quantum computing technologies, previously difficult for private firms due to high costs and technical barriers, helping strengthen future industrial competitiveness. Going beyond simple technical support, the city views the program as a strategic step toward expanding into a “quantum transformation (QX)-based industrial ecosystem.”
