Incheon Strengthens Election Campaign Advertisement Management Ahead of Local Elections
Incheon Metropolitan City is launching a full-scale management system of campaign advertisements ahead of the 9th nationwide local elections. The initiative is to minimize public inconvenience and prevent safety accidents caused by the proliferation of campaign advertisements to be held on June 3rd. On April 30, the city held a meeting with officials in charge of outdoor advertisements from Incheon’s 10 districts and counties, sharing guidelines from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and discussing detailed enforcement standards. The meeting aimed to address recurring complaints about banners during election seasons while balancing freedom of political expression under election law with public order and safety under outdoor advertising regulations.
Incheon and Four State-run Firms Cut 375 tons of Air Pollutants Last Year
Incheon Metropolitan City and four state-run enterprises based in the city significantly reduced air pollutant emissions last year under a joint initiative. The city said it reduced 375 tons of air pollutants last year by investing a total of 60.5 billion won through the “Incheon Clean Corporation Council Phase 3 Environmental Improvement Project” with the Incheon International Airport Corporation, Incheon Port Authority, Korea Gas Corporation and the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation. The investment exceeded the initial plan of 43.1 billion won by about 40 percent. The city plans to continue monitoring the implementation of the third-phase agreement, which runs through 2029, supporting 17 projects across aviation, ports, energy, and waste sectors.
Incheon Operates Integrated Local Income Tax Filing Centers for Convenience
Incheon Metropolitan City will operate integrated filing centers through June 1 to assist taxpayers during May, the filing and payment period for local income tax. Starting this year, failure to file local income tax within the deadline will result in penalties regardless of whether comprehensive income tax has been filed. The city plans to actively promote the system and provide support to help taxpayers avoid disadvantages and complete filings smoothly.
Incheon Joins National AI R&D Project to Develop ‘City Brain’
Incheon Metropolitan City has joined a large-scale national research and development project worth 302.6 billion won as a key partner, aiming to secure a major growth engine for becoming a world-class “spatial intelligence AI city.” The city said it was selected for the “End-to-End 3D Spatial Intelligence” project, under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s 2026 future flagship technology initiative. Through the project, the city expects to secure core technologies needed to advance its “imap (Incheon-Twin) platform” and build high-precision 3D urban models with government funding.
Incheon Eeum Cashback Expansion Sparks Surge in Demand
Incheon’s decision to expand cashback on its “Incheon Eeum” card to 20 percent has led to a sharp increase in usage. On May 1, recharge services were temporarily suspended after KONA I’s open banking system exceeded its recharge limit due to high demand. The city had announced last month that it would invest 114.5 billion won to expand cashback rates from 10 percent to 20 percent for three months, raising the monthly cashback cap to 300,000 won.
Incheon to Launch Public Call for Traditional Market Facility Modernization Project

The initiative aims to strengthen competitiveness and improve infrastructure to create a safer and more convenient environment for visitors.
