21 Applications Received for Incheon’s Pilot Redevelopment Zone Designation


A total of 21 zones have applied to be designated as pilot project zones under Incheon’s Aging New Town Redevelopment Project. The city announced that the initiative targeted five large residential developments built in the 1980s and 90s, and the 21 applicant zones comprise a total of 46,100 housing units. By district, the applications include two zones in Guwol, 12 in Yeonsu and Seonhak, one in Mansu 1 to 3, five in Galsan, Bupyeong and Bugae, and one in Gyesan. The average resident consent rate among the applicant zones reached 76 percent, indicating strong local interest in the urban renewal program. The city plans to announce the selected pilot zones in August following its own review process and consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.





Veterans Health Service Marks 45th Anniversary With Nationwide Events


The Korea Veterans Health Service will hold a series of public participation events at veterans hospitals and care centers across the country to mark its 45th anniversary and Patriots and Veterans month. The campaign will begin with a tribute ceremony at the Wonju War Memorial and include an essay contest titled “Veterans Affairs: Inspiring Stories That Keep Memories Alive,” as well as outreach activities for veterans linked to the results of last month’s “Veterans Run” charity challenge. The essay contest will run from June 9 to 30 and invite stories related to medical treatment, rehabilitation and caregiving experiences at veterans hospitals and care facilities. A total of 43 winners will be selected and recognized. Outstanding submissions will be featured through radio broadcasts and healing concert programs.




2026 Youth Policy Contest Launched, Entries Accepted Through June 30


Incheon Metropolitan City has launched the 2026 Incheon Youth Policy Contest and will accept applications through June 30. The competition is designed to encourage young people to identify local challenges and propose policy solutions, positioning them as active policy makers rather than passive beneficiaries. It aims to develop the creative ideas of young people into actual policies. The city plans to expand youth participation in municipal affairs and incorporate practical, community-driven policy ideas into city administration. The contest theme is “Youth Policy Ideas for Young People in Incheon,” covering areas closely related to youth life, including housing, employment, education, finance, welfare and culture.




Incheon TP Opens Enrollment for Virtual Convergence Industry Training


Incheon Techno Park (Incheon TP) announced that it is recruiting participants for the introductory course of its 2026 Virtual Convergence Industry Professional Training Program. Supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Incheon Metropolitan Government and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, the 100-hour offline course will run from June 25 through July 15. The curriculum includes an introduction to virtual convergence technologies and device experiences, generative AI planning and video editing, 3D asset creation, and virtual space design, with a focus on practical skills that can be applied immediately in the field.






Incheon City Museum to Offer Tour Tracing Legacy of Braille Pioneer Park Doo-sung


The Incheon Metropolitan City Museum will host a summer cultural heritage field trip program marking the 100th anniversary of the publication of Hunmaengjeongeum, Korea’s Braille writing system. The tour, scheduled for June 11, will be held under the theme “Following the Footsteps of Songam Park Doo-sung, Pioneer of Korean Braille.” This year marks the centennial of the publication of Hunmaengjeongeum by educator Songam Park Doo-sung (1888–1963), an Incheon native who developed the Korean Braille system for people with visual impairments. The program is open to adults aged 20 and older, with registration for 30 participants available on a first-come, first-served basis through the museum’s website beginning June 8.
