Incheon Confirms Total Number of Islands at 197

Incheon Metropolitan City has finalized the total number of Incheon’s islands at 197, resolving discrepancies with statistics maintained by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries that have caused confusion.

The two agencies had agreed on the number of inhabited islands at 40, but differed over the number of uninhabited islands with the Oceans Ministry records showing 152, while Incheon’s records showed 128.

Incheon cross-checked the ministry’s Comprehensive Information System for Uninhabited Islands with its own management list and conducted a detailed verification of the geographic information system (GIS) coordinates of each uninhabited island based on latitude and longitude.

As a result, the city added 29 uninhabited islands that were missing from its statistics. It also requested that five islands managed by the city but not listed in the ministry’s system be added.

This brings the number of uninhabited islands in both sets of statistics to 157.

Incheon to Hold 2026 Incheon Wellness Festa Under Theme ‘Pause in Incheon’

Incheon Metropolitan City said it will hold the “2026 Incheon Wellness Festa” across the city for four days from September 3 to 6.

Last year, the event attracted more than 10,000 citizens and domestic and international tourists, receiving an enthusiastic response and establishing itself as a leading healing festival.

This year, under the theme “Pause in Incheon,” the festival will offer a wider range of wellness sessions and experiential programs to further strengthen Incheon’s brand as a global healing city.

The festa will be divided into outdoor events held in different areas that combine local attractions with wellness programs, and main events at Sangsang Platform.

All sessions at this year’s event are free of charge and will be operated on a reservation basis.

Incheon Seeks New Paths for Korea-China Cooperation at 10th INCHINA Forum

Incheon Metropolitan City will hold the “2026 INCHINA Forum International Conference” at Songdo Convensia on September 8 in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Korea.

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the INCHINA Forum will be held under the theme, “Seeking New Korea-China Cooperation in an Era of Great Transformation: AX, GX and CX.

” As the world undergoes major paradigm shifts in areas including artificial intelligence transformation (AX), green transformation (GX), and urban and cultural transformation (CX), the conference will hold in-depth discussions on new directions and practical tasks for Korea-China cooperation that Incheon can lead.

Incheon Aetteul Public Parking Lot Introduces QR Code Prepayment System

The Incheon Metropolitan City General Construction Headquarters has introduced a QR code-based parking fee prepayment system at Incheon Aetteul Public Parking Lot to improve convenience for users.

The new system allows drivers to pay their parking fees in advance using their mobile phones before leaving the parking lot.

Users can access the system by scanning QR codes installed at the entrances and exits of the Incheon Aetteul Public Parking Lot, as well as at the entrances to Incheon City Hall and the City Council building.

In particular, users can pay their parking fees with a smartphone even without a physical credit card, which is expected to make the parking lot more convenient to use.

Incheon Library to Hold “3-Color, 3-Book Incheon Book” Exhibition at Local Bookstores

Incheon Metropolitan City’s Incheon Library will hold the “2026 3-Colors, 3-Books Incheon Book” exhibition in cooperation with local bookstores from September 1 to 30 as part of a citywide one city, one book campaign.

The exhibition was organized in cooperation with local bookstores to allow citizens to encounter the book campaign naturally in their daily lives and help spread the culture of reading throughout the community.

Under this year’s theme, “Rediscovering Reading — The Value of Reading Reconsidered in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” a total of 12 books, including the final selections and candidate books from each category, will be displayed and introduced.
