Land Transaction Permit Zone Designation Extended for Guwol 2 Public Housing District

Incheon Metropolitan City will extend the designation of the Guwol 2 Public Housing District and surrounding areas as a land transaction permit zone for another year.

Ahead of the designation’s expiration on September 20, the city recently held a meeting of its Urban Planning Committee and re-designated a 5.

43-square-kilometer development restriction area covering parts of Seonhak-dong in Yeonsu-gu and Namdong-gu’s Guwol-dong, Namchon-dong and Susan-dong as land transaction permit zones.

The designation will now remain in effect until September 20 next year.

Anyone seeking to purchase or sell land within the designated area must obtain approval from the head of the relevant district office.

Residential properties may be bought or sold only for the purpose of actual residence for at least two years.

Geomdan Prehistory Museum to Showcase 100-Year-Old Ceramic Artifacts

The Geomdan Prehistoric Museum will hold a small exhibition titled “Where Did These Ceramics Come From?” from September 3 to December 6.

The museum holds quarterly “small exhibitions” featuring artifacts from its collection that have not been presented in its permanent or special exhibitions, based on different themes.

This quarter’s exhibition will feature four modern-era ceramic artifacts excavated in Gajeong-dong, offering a glimpse into everyday life in the area more than 100 years ago.

The exhibition will be held in the “New Artifacts, New Stories” section of the permanent exhibition hall on the first floor of the Geomdan Prehistory Museum. Admission is free.

Incheon Office of Education Accepts Entries for Kids and Youth Film Festiva

The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education is accepting entries for the fourth Incheon Children’s and Youth Film Festival from elementary, middle and high school students nationwide.

The education office said submissions will be accepted through the festival’s website starting September 7.

Students can enter individually or as part of a club, with no restrictions on genre as long as the work addresses a theme related to character building.

Entries can be produced in various formats, including drama, documentary and animation, with a running time of around 10 minutes recommended.

IFEZ Conducts Special Gas Safety Inspections Ahead of Chuseok

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) will conduct extensive safety inspections of specific gas-using facilities starting September 1.

The safety inspections apply to facilities that will see increased foot traffic and use large amounts of gas ahead of the Chuseok holiday, and aim to prevent gas-related accidents ensuring a safe and comfortable holiday for citizens.

To improve the effectiveness and expertise of the inspections, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority will form joint inspection teams with local city gas providers.

A total of 56 facilities will be inspected, including 21 in Songdo, 25 in Yeongjong and 10 in Cheongna, including large retail stores.

Incheon Holds Suicide Prevention Day Event

Incheon Metropolitan City has held a Suicide Prevention Day event on September 10, under the theme “Connecting Lives, Connecting Each Other.

” The event was organized to look back on the activities and achievements of life guardians who have worked to promote a culture of respect for life in communities over the past decade, while highlighting their role and value as part of the local suicide prevention safety net.

Since launching its Life-Loving Taxi initiative in 2017, Incheon has steadily expanded the program to other industries to include pharmacies, hospitals, private academies, community activists, lodging facilities, nurses and hairdressers.

These life guardians serve as a vital community safety net by identifying early warning signs of suicide risk on the front lines of everyday life and promptly connecting people in need with mental health and suicide prevention services.
