Incheon Secures Over 7 Trillion Won in National Funding for Next Year

Incheon Metropolitan City has secured 7.0863 trillion won in national funding for next year and it has been reflected in the government’s budget proposal.

The amount is 9.5 percent higher than the 6.4735 trillion won budget secured this year and also exceeds the city’s original target of 6.9 trillion won.

The city expects the total amount of national funding to exceed 8 trillion won when the portion of the General Local Allocation Tax reflected at the end of this year is included.

National funding has also been secured in various areas related to Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae’s key “ABC+E” strategy, which stands for artificial intelligence (A), biotechnology (B), K-culture (C) and energy (E).

Incheon Launches Special Campaign to Collect Delinquent Local Taxes

Incheon Metropolitan City will operate a special campaign to collect delinquent local taxes from this month through the end of the year, with the aim of actively recovering unpaid taxes and securing stable local finances.

The campaign will take a two-track approach, taking into consideration vulnerable residents whose ability to pay has been affected by the economic slowdown, high interest rates and high prices, while taking strong collection measures against habitual and high-value tax delinquents who deliberately evade taxes despite having the ability to pay.

On September 9, the city, counties and districts will hold a joint vehicle impoundment day targeting vehicles with unpaid automobile taxes.

From September through October, they will also step up enforcement, including nighttime wheel-locking and forced towing of delinquent vehicles.

Incheon Recruits 300 Participants for Singles’ Meetups

Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting participants for its “Incheon Singles’ Meetups,” a program designed to help young people find potential partners.

Together with the Gyeyang-gu Family Center, the city will select 300 participants for the third through fifth sessions of the program from September 9 through October 7.

Participants will have opportunities to meet potential partners through a variety of programs, including dating coaching, one-on-one rotating conversations and couples’ games.

Single men and women aged 24 to 39 who are registered as residents of Incheon or work for companies or public institutions in the city are eligible to apply.

Incheon and Marine Corps to Hold Concert for Peace

Incheon Metropolitan City will join forces with the Marine Corps to hold a concert commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Incheon Landing Operation, honoring the dedication of veterans and sharing the meaning of peace.

The concert is part of the 76th Anniversary Incheon Landing Operation Commemorative Week, which runs from September 10 to 15.

It is designed to reflect on the historical significance of the operation and the sacrifices and dedication of veterans, while sharing the values of freedom and peace with citizens.

Titled “Beyond the Waves of Victory: Incheon and the Marine Corps,” the performance will tell the story of the Incheon Landing Operation through music and storytelling, from the decision to launch the operation and its progress to the courage and sacrifice of troops and Incheon’s recovery of peace after overcoming the scars of war.

Incheon to Hold 2026 Unification Harmony Festival with Citizens

Incheon Metropolitan City said it will hold the “2026 Unification Harmony Festival” with citizens at the lawn square in Songdo Haedoji Park from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.

The event is being held in conjunction with Civil Peace Week, which runs from September 4 to 19, to raise public interest in and understanding of peace and unification.

This year, the city is moving beyond an event-focused format concentrated on the day of the festival and introducing programs in stages, from building interest in advance to on-site participation and experiences, followed by sharing and continued outreach.

A key feature is the integration of online and on-site programs to encourage citizen participation to continue even after the event.
