Incheon to Plant 30 Million Trees by 2035

Incheon Metropolitan City will launch the “Green City Incheon Future Forest Project” to plant 30 million trees by 2035 as part of efforts to address the climate crisis.

The city plans to plant 12 million trees in the public sector and 18 million in the private sector in stages.

Based on this plan, the city will carry out various projects, including commemorative tree-planting programs involving Incheon’s 3.05 million residents, as well as the creation of urban forests designed to reduce fine dust and the expansion of parks and green spaces.

Once the tree-planting project is completed, it is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 18,000 tons annually.

Incheon Begins Full-Scale Development of Sammok Port as a Local Fishing Port

Incheon Metropolitan City has begun full-scale efforts to newly designate Sammok Port in Yeongjong-gu as a local fishing port and develop it into a multifunctional port for tourism and the local fishing industry.

Sammok Port is currently managed as a fishing settlement harbor. However, it lacks adequate facilities for fishing boats to safely take shelter during bad weather, as well as a dedicated berthing space for regular use.

As a result, local fishermen have continued to call for improvements to the port facilities.

To address these issues, the city has begun drawing up a detailed development plan based on the results of a feasibility study for designating Sammok Port as a local fishing port, which was completed in March.

The city plans to finalize the designation of Sammok Port as a local fishing port following consultations with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

Incheon to Gather Public Input for 2027 Budget

Incheon Metropolitan City is stepping up efforts to gather residents’ opinions and reflect them in the preparation of next year’s budget.

From September 14 to 23, the city will hold budget policy discussions across eight areas, including planning and administration, public safety, environment and marine affairs, transportation and construction, urban affairs, culture and communications, health and families, and the economy and industry.

The discussions will gather input from residents and experts on next year’s budget priorities and key projects.

The meetings will begin with a review of the 2026 budget and the progress of major projects, followed by discussions on policy directions for each sector. All Incheon residents are welcome to participate.

Asian MICE Buyers Gather in Incheon

Major MICE buyers from across Asia are gathering in Songdo, Incheon to explore the city’s competitiveness in attracting international conferences and corporate events.

Incheon Metropolitan City, together with the Incheon Tourism Organization, will hold the 3rd Incheon Songdo International Conference Complex MICE Travel Mart from September 14 to 17 in the Songdo International Conference Complex.

Thirty overseas buyers from six countries, including China, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, will participate along with 52 domestic MICE companies.

On September 15, 320 one-on-one business consultations will be held through customized pre-matching.

The city plans to focus on promoting the infrastructure of the complex, including Songdo Convensia, hotels and tourism facilities, with the goal of turning the event into actual international conference and corporate event bookings.

Global Experts Gather in Incheon to Seek Climate Crisis Solutions

An international forum on climate technology cooperation for small island developing states vulnerable to climate change, as well as ways to strengthen energy resilience using artificial intelligence, will be held in Incheon.

Incheon Metropolitan City said it will host the “2026 SIDS NDE Forum & Capacity Building on AI for Adaptive Management in the Energy Sector” from September 14 to 15 at Songdo Convensia, in cooperation with the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), under the UN Environment Programme, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and Google DeepMind.

Nationally Designated Entities (NDE) from various countries, along with international organizations and experts, will take part to explore ways to strengthen the resilience of energy systems through AI and digital technologies and expand cooperation on climate technologies.
