Incheon Introduces Household Waste Reduction Evaluation

Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct an evaluation of household waste reduction performance efforts by the city’s 11 districts and counties.

The evaluation will cover waste reduction performance from January through August this year.

The city has set a key goal of reducing household waste generation by 8 percent from last year’s level by 2030.

It plans to reduce annual household waste generation from 2025’s level of 332,642 tons to about 306,031 tons by 2030.

2026 Incheon Youth Week Concludes Successfully

Incheon Metropolitan City has successfully concluded a youth festival featuring policy discussions and cultural events closely connected to young people’s lives.

The city said the 2026 Incheon Youth Week, which kicked off on September 16, successfully wrapped up its five day run.

Around 1,000 young people and residents took part in the event, held under the slogan “Overwhelm, Incheon! Leap Forward, Youth!”

The city said it will continue to actively reflect young people’s voices in municipal policies and strengthen support to help them establish themselves locally and plan for their futures.

Incheon Launches Public-Private Safety Campaign to Prevent Warehouse Fires

Incheon Metropolitan City is launching a joint public-private campaign to prevent fires at large logistics facilities and strengthen their ability to respond quickly in the early stages of an emergency.

The city said it will hold the “2026 Public-Private Joint Safety Culture Campaign for Fire Prevention at Logistics Facilities” on September 22 at logistics facilities in Seohae-gu’s Wonchang-dong area.

Together with safety officers and other personnel, the city will visit large logistics facilities to provide workers and other relevant personnel with guidance on fire prevention measures and how to respond in the event of a disaster.

Incheon Finalizes Second Supplementary Budget at 17.0193 Trillion Won

Incheon Metropolitan City’s second supplementary budget has been finalized at a total of 17.0193 trillion won.

The figure is 1.1503 trillion won higher than the original budget and marks the first outcome of the city’s efforts to seek ways to address its chronic fiscal deficit.

According to the city, a key feature of the supplementary budget is the resumption of Incheon’s e-eum cashback program to stimulate local consumption and support small businesses.

Rather than making drastic adjustments to existing programs, the city said it redirected funds from projects that would be difficult to execute within the year due to delays in administrative procedures and allocated the savings as a priority to pressing livelihood-related needs.

Incheon Steps Up Bid to Host 2028 G20 Summit

Incheon Metropolitan City has launched a full-scale bid to host the 2028 G20 Summit, which will be held in South Korea.

The city plans to highlight its accessibility through Incheon International Airport, its free economic zones, as well as its bio industry and international conference infrastructure to demonstrate its competitiveness in the selection process.

Incheon said it held the first meeting of its “2028 G20 Summit Incheon Bid Support Task Force” at City Hall on September 18, with senior city officials and representatives from relevant organizations, and launched a citywide response system.

The host city for the 2028 G20 Summit will be selected through an open bidding process.
