Around 30 representatives from various organizations attended the event, including the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations, the World Korean Business Association, the World Federation of Korean Associations, and the Association of Koryo Saram.

The meeting focused on promoting Incheon's bid to host the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. They also discussed Incheon's policies for overseas Koreans under the theme "Building a Global Korean Network for Incheon's Leap Forward as a 10 Million Population City."

Key topics included:

• Progress of Incheon's policies for overseas Koreans since the establishment of the Overseas Koreans Agency.

• Plans for the Incheon Overseas Korean Support and Cooperation Committee.

• Operation of the Incheon Overseas Koreans Advisory Committee.

• Projects aimed at fostering the identity of the next generation of overseas Koreans and building networks.

After the meeting, Mayor Yoo and representatives from overseas Korean organizations joined the opening ceremony of the 12th Diaspora Film Festival. The event took place at the outdoor plaza of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center.

The city expects this event to lay the foundation for improved communication and cooperation between Incheon and overseas Koreans. Moreover, representatives from overseas Korean organizations agreed that Incheon is a suitable location for next year's APEC Summit being held in Korea.

Mayor Yoo Jeong Bok stated, "We plan to open the Overseas Koreans Welcome Center and the Korean Business Center later this year to support overseas Koreans. We will continue to foster close communication and cooperation with the Overseas Koreans Agency and overseas Koreans to promote exchanges with the motherland and expand Korean businesses.”

Last June, Incheon successfully attracted the Overseas Koreans Agency to the city. Moving forward, the city also established the "Ordinance on Support and Cooperation for Overseas Koreans" and created the Global Business Cooperation Division (with 4 departments and 16 teams) to strengthen support and overseas Koreans networking.
