Incheon i-Pass for Unlimited Rides on Incheon Metropolitan Buses

Created date
2024-09-02

- Second rollout of the Incheon i-Pass with enhanced features! (MOU signed on August 20)

- Unlimited rides on Incheon metropolitan buses for 30 days for ₩80,000 starting August 26

Incheon Metropolitan City is rolling out an enhanced version of the Incheon i-Pass card, offering unlimited rides on Incheon metropolitan buses for thirty days starting August 26. This is the second rollout of the service after Incheon launched the original Incheon i-Pass card, which was based on the government's K-Pass service and did not include metropolitan bus service.

At that time, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “We are committed to providing Incheon citizens with more options for using public transportation and expanding the range of public transit services available.”

As part of this initiative, Incheon is introducing an enhanced version of the Incheon i-Pass starting August 26.

The project will initially operate on a pilot basis until December 31 of this year. Following this period, efforts will be made to stabilize the system, secure subscribers, and diversify sales outlets, with a full launch planned for 2025.

The Incheon i-Pass is a 30-day bus pass priced at ₩80,000 designed to address the high cost of transportation between Incheon and Seoul.

The Incheon i-Pass card can be purchased at GS25 convenience stores in Incheon or online Cashbee store. It can be recharged at GS25 stores nationwide and via the

Incheon i-Pass app. After purchase, users must register their card on the Cashbee website (cashbee.co.kr) or through the Incheon i-Pass app to access services such as reporting lost or stolen cards and requesting refunds.

The Incheon i-Pass covers direct-trip seated buses, metropolitan (M) express buses, and BRT (7700) buses, encompassing approximately 210 vehicles across 26 routes. However, it does not include airport buses (6770, 6777, 6777-1) or M6410, 3001, and 3002 buses, which operate within Incheon but are not managed by Incheon Metropolitan City. The inclusion of M6410, 3001, and 3002 buses is planned for the future, pending consultations with relevant organizations such as Gyeonggi-do. Even if certain buses are excluded, you can still receive a partial refund if you use the K-Pass (Incheon i-Pass).

To use the pass, you have to tag the device when boarding and getting off the bus. Failure to tag the device twice will result in a 24-hour suspension from the last ride, so it’s important to tag it when getting off.

The Incheon i-Pass card is not transferable to other forms of transportation, so it’s best suited for those who primarily use buses without transferring. If you need to transfer, consider using the K-Pass (Incheon i-Pass). For more details on available routes and card usage, please visit the Incheon i-Pass section on the city's website.

Four months after its launch, the Incheon i-Pass card service has reached 186,000 registered users, surpassing the initial expectation of 126,000 by 60,000. In June, it was also ranked top in a survey of the best businesses, according to citizens' votes in the second year of the eighth civil administration.

On August 20, Incheon Metropolitan City signed an MOU with the Incheon Bus Transportation Business Association (Chairman Choi Yeong-rak) and EZL Corp. (CEO Son Min-su) to ensure the successful implementation of the Incheon i-Pass project. The agreement details mutual cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “Building on the Incheon i-Pass policy, which was launched on May 1 and recognized as an excellent public transportation subsidy closely aligned with citizens' needs, the city is introducing the Incheon i-Pass to alleviate the financial burden on those facing economic challenges due to high prices. We plan to further expand and enhance this initiative in the future.”
