Incheon Free Economic Zone Establishes Cultural and Artistic Hub on Unyeom Island, Construction Starts in 2026
A project is underway to create a hub for cultural and artistic content by attracting artists to Unyeom Island, located between Yeongjong Island and the mainland in Incheon.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced that the development plan for 'Ecobius,' which includes these details, has passed the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Free Economic Zone Committee, finalizing the change in the development plan for Yeongjong International City.
This project aims to create an eco-friendly complex cultural and artistic space on a 160,000 square-meter site within Unyeom Island in Jung-gu, Jungsan-dong. After establishing an implementation plan and conducting an environmental impact assessment, construction is set to begin in 2026.
Key facilities will include an outdoor art exhibition hall, a tidal flat life art museum, a media studio, an independent film screening hall, a Korean-style garden, a Hallyu experience facility, a hotel, and a spa.
Yeonsu District Completes Songdo Haeum Park Dog Playground
Yeonsu District in Incheon held the inauguration ceremony of Incheon's first pet park at Haeum Park yesterday (25th) and launched the 'Yeonsu Guardian Dogs' patrol team, starting neighborhood safety patrol activities.
The Haeum Park dog playground was created with a total budget of 850 million KRW, covering an area of 6,188.8 square meters. It includes a dog playground, 38 parking spaces, a cafe, and indoor playground facilities.
The 'Yeonsu Guardian Dogs' patrol team, consisting of 55 pre-selected teams, will be active until December this year, assisting in filling public security gaps by identifying potential hazards with their owners.
The newly opened dog playground will be operated by the Yeonsu Facilities Safety Management Corporation and will be open from Tuesday to Sunday (10:00 AM to 8:00 PM). It can be used twice a day for one hour at a time.
Incheon Autonomous Police Commission Conducts Beach Safety Campaign
The Incheon Metropolitan City Autonomous Police Commission visited Eulwangni Beach in Jung-gu and Dongmak Beach in Ganghwa on the 23rd and 25th to encourage summer police station officers.
Additionally, they conducted a joint campaign with about 50 voluntary crime prevention members to create a "safe city, Incheon."
This event aimed to inform vacationers visiting the beaches during the summer holidays that Incheon ranks first in the crime safety index and to prevent crimes such as sexual offenses and alcohol-related crimes that can occur at the beach.
Namdong District's Multilingual Newsletter 'Namdong People' Receives High Satisfaction
Namdong District in Incheon found that its newly launched multilingual district newsletter has received high satisfaction from its readers.
Since March, Namdong District has been publishing 'Namdong People,' a multilingual district newsletter, once a month to bridge the information gap for multicultural and foreign residents.
The translation languages were decided based on the nationality distribution of marriage immigrants in Namdong District, and include Chinese, Vietnamese, and English. The Namdong District Family Center, among others, cooperates with translation and interpretation personnel.
Park Jong-hyo, the mayor of Namdong District, stated, "We hope that this multilingual district newsletter will help foreign residents, who can easily be vulnerable to information due to language or cultural differences, by providing diverse administrative information and aiding their stable integration into our society."
