Enjoy an Urban Vacation at Songdo Beach! 


Incheon Yeonsu District will hold the 5th New Songdo Beach Festival, modeled as an ‘Urban Vacation’, from the 10th to the 16th at Songdo Moonlight Park.  

Yeonsu District announced that this year’s festival, held in collaboration with the Yeonsu Cultural Foundation, will feature quality facilities, night openings, marine experiences, CrossFit, and other specialized content, distinguishing it from last year’s event and offering unique experiences to residents. 

Lee Jae-ho, the head of Yeonsu District, stated, ‘Despite hardships last year, we revived the Songdo Beach Festival, and this year, we have prepared to close the loopholes in line with new trends. We will carefully prepare and check so that residents can come together, reminisce about the old days and enjoy the festival.”




Incheon City Establishes a Special Maintenance Plan for 5 Old Residential Districts 


Incheon City is preparing a blueprint for the maintenance of five large-scale residential districts built in the 1980s and 1990s. 

Incheon has begun establishing a basic plan for the maintenance of aging planned cities in accordance with the ‘Special Act on Maintenance and Support for Aging Planned Cities,’ which was implemented in April this year. 

Under the special act, aging planned cities chosen for special maintenance are large-scale residential areas of 1 million square meters or more that were built over 20 years ago. 

An Incheon City official stated, “Through the establishment of this special maintenance basic plan, we will create a systematic and comprehensive maintenance framework and promote the regeneration of aging planned cities.” 




A Special School and An Integrated Elementary and Middle School To Be Established in Incheon 


The 8th public special education (special needs) school will be built in Incheon. 

In the area of Geumsong redevelopment zone, where the relocation of Changyoung Elementary School was canceled, a new integrated elementary and middle school will be established. 

An official from the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “The Office of Education has been promoting the construction of special education schools in response of the increasing number of students requiring special education and the rise in student population due to the development of the Gyeyang New City. The decision to retain Changyoung Elementary School, considering its cultural, historical, and local significance, has highlighted the need for a new integrated elementary and middle school in the Geumsong area. All of the Office of Education’s requests were accepted in the recent Ministry of Education’s central investment review.” 

Superintendent Do Seong-hoon stated, “I will do my utmost to continuously communicate with local residents and create a comfortable and safe educational environment.” 




The 2024 Incheon Universal Art Fair Held From September 13th to 18th


The Incheon Metropolitan Association of Art (IMAA) announced that the 2024 Incheon Universal Art Fair (IUAF) will be held from August 13th to 18th at Hall 1 of the Songdo Convensia in Yeonsu District, Incheon. 

This event will be the first art fair in Korea to feature an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) format. 

With 3 million Incheon residents actively participating, the event aims to stimulate the art market and build a robust art market, fostering the advancement and expansion of a healthy art market. 

The event will feature artworks that transcend social classes and ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to see outstanding works from various genres by artists from different fields, including works by elementary, middle, and high school students, college students, seniors, as well as general and artists with disability.
