"Let's Prevent Malaria Infection"... Incheon City to Launch Drones for Pest Control Until November
Incheon City has announced that it will conduct a pilot project for drone-based pest control until November 30th to prevent the spread of malaria.
The strategy is to preemptively block malaria transmission in anticipation of an increase in malaria cases, expansion of affected areas, and frequent outdoor activities expected in the fall. The city has selected 10 insect-prone sites within Michuhol-gu, including redevelopment areas, forests, and riverside regions, where drone pest control operations will be carried out once a week for a total of 9 times.
Incheon City, which was the first in South Korea to enact a drone ordinance, is pursuing various projects to establish a foundation for the drone industry and strengthen its competitiveness. These efforts include supporting drone public services, building a smart marine environment management system, supporting drone testing and evaluation, providing drone experience and job training, and attracting drone infrastructure.
Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education Central Library to Operate "Creating Picture Cookbooks from Parents' Home Countries"
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education Central Library has announced that it will run a program called "Creating Picture Cookbooks from Parents' Home Countries" for multicultural students from September 20 to November 8, 2024, as part of its 2024 multicultural village education revitalization project.
The program for creating family picture books from parents' home countries will be operated at "Multicultural Love Association New Dream School," a local multicultural institution. It aims to provide multicultural students with an opportunity to learn about their parents' traditional cultures through cooking, and to explore and express their own cultural heritage more deeply through the process of creating picture books.
A representative from the Central Library said, "We hope this program will strengthen family bonds by exploring family traditions and cuisines together, and serve as an opportunity to promote library use among multicultural families."
Incheon's Dong-gu to Host 'Sumuntong Moonlight Night Market Event'
On May 22nd, Dong-gu in Incheon City announced that it will hold the 'Sumuntong Moonlight Night Market Event' in the Sumuntong-ro area from the 27th to the 28th of this month.
This event has been organized to promote Sumuntong, Dong-gu's first alley-style shopping district, and to revitalize the local alley economy, which has been struggling due to the economic downturn.
The night market will be held at outdoor tables set up in front of participating stores in the Sumuntong alley-style shopping district and will operate from 5 PM to 11 PM.
Forum on Utilizing and Preserving Incheon's Coastal Areas and Tidal Flats to be Held at Incheon National University on the 27th
The Incheon Council for Sustainable Development and Incheon National University's Regional Engagement Platform are hosting a forum to explore sustainable ways to utilize coastal areas and tidal flats.
Incheon City has announced that the "Forum for Sustainable Utilization and Preservation of Coastal Areas and Tidal Flats" will be held on the 27th from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Convention Center in Building 12 of Incheon National University.
A city official stated, "This event will provide a meaningful opportunity to explore ways to preserve and sustainably utilize Incheon's valuable natural resources, its coastal areas and tidal flats."
