Baengnyeong and Daecheong Geopark Signs Geo-partner MOU

Incheon and Ongjin-gun announced yesterday (26th) that they have signed a “Geo-partner MOU for Baengnyeong and Daecheong Geopark” with five institutions, two Geo-schools, and 32 partner companies.

The Geo-schools are Baengnyeong Elementary School and Daecheong Elementary School, and there are currently 32 partner companies involved.

Located at the far northwest of South Korea, Baengnyeong Island, Daecheong Island, and Socheong Island vividly record volcanic activities from 1 billion years ago, preserving the secrets of the formation process of Northeast Asia. Incheon and Ongjin-gun plan to pass down this valuable geological heritage to future generations through the UNESCO Global Geopark designation for the Baengnyeong-Daecheong Geopark, while also developing it into a sustainable global tourist destination.

Incheon and Ongjin-gun plan to continue their collaborative efforts with partner organizations, including activities such as promotion and outreach. They aim to enhance local pride and stimulate the regional economy through the expansion and restructuring of the Geo-partner network.

Incheon Improves Tap Water Quality with “Stringent” Advanced Water Treatment

The Incheon Metropolitan City Waterworks Headquarters announced that it is strengthening the management of the entire water purification process, including advanced water treatment, to provide citizens with cleaner and better-tasting Incheon Sky Water.

Advanced water treatment is a technology that improves water quality by removing taste, odor, and trace contaminants, which are difficult to remove through standard processes such as sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. This is achieved through ozone oxidation and granular activated carbon absorption. It is a widely used treatment method in advanced countries such as the United States, Japan, and Europe.

An official from Incheon stated that they will conduct water quality tests not only at large water treatment plants but also at small-scale facilities to provide Incheon Sky Water that citizens can trust and drink.

If selected as eligible for support, various public-private collaborative services are provided through dedicated personnel. These include caregiving and medical services for the sick family member, and scholarships, financial and career counseling, among other services for the youth caregivers.
