Incheon Sets Up Joint Memorial Altar for Victims of Jeju Air Crash


The city of Incheon announced that a joint memorial altar has been set up at the Incheon Aetdeul Lawn Square in front of City Hall to honor the victims of the Jeju Air crash on the 29th.


The memorial altar will be open from December 30 to January 4, with visitors allowed to pay respects daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.





IFEZ Holds Smart City Living Lab Achievement Sharing Event


The Incheon Free Economic Zone(IFEZ) and Incheon Technopark held the “2024 IFEZ Smart City Citizen Participation Living Lab Achievement Sharing Event” on December 27 at Connect Hall on the 6th floor of Incheon Startup Park.


Around 60 participants, including Living Lab operators and citizen researchers, attended the event. The program included presentations on Living Lab results and discussions on improving products and services developed through the project.


An IFEZ official stated, “We will continue efforts to solve urban problems within IFEZ by supporting demonstrations and fostering innovative products and services from local startups.”






Incheon to Begin Construction of Youth Cultural Center in 2024, Completion by 2027


Incheon City announced plans to start building a “Youth Specialized Facility” next year to support youth activities.


The facility will be constructed at the former Dorim High School site in Namdong-gu, with a total budget of 24.3 billion KRW fully funded by the city.


The project passed a central investment review last October after reflecting conditions from the Ministry of Interior and Safety, such as expanding operating hours and creating diverse programs. After completing the design process this year, construction is set to begin in November 2024 and finish in May 2027.






Bupyeong Library to Offer Winter Reading Program for Students in 2025


The Bupyeong Library under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will host a special winter program, “Growing Bookstore,” to help elementary students improve literacy and math skills.


The program includes [Hello, I’m a 1st Grader Now] for incoming 1st graders,

[Board Game Math Challenge] for incoming 2nd and 3rd graders, [Historical Journeys Through Classic Novels] for incoming 3rd to 6th graders.
