Incheon Strengthens Childcare Abuse Prevention Measures with Enhanced Monitoring


Incheon City is reinforcing measures to prevent child abuse in childcare services, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children.

In January, the city established a comprehensive plan to prevent child abuse and reoccurrences. Throughout February, Incheon’s Childcare Support Center conducted 24 sessions of child abuse prevention training for approximately 1,400 childcare workers across nine districts.

Additionally, Incheon is strengthening home visit monitoring to detect risk factors early and take proactive measures. The city also plans to implement public awareness campaigns using diverse content to promote a culture of child protection and rights.





Incheon Expands Early Vehicle Scrappage Subsidy


Incheon City will accept applications for its early vehicle scrappage subsidy from March 4 to March 31.

This year, the city has allocated 21.7 billion KRW to support the scrapping of 6,135 outdated diesel vehicles and construction machinery.

Eligible vehicles include:

All Grade 5 emission vehicles (regardless of fuel type), Grade 4 diesel vehicles, Road construction machinery (Category 3) manufactured before August 31, 2009, Forklifts and excavators manufactured before 2004.

For the first time, the program will cover all Grade 5 vehicles, including gasoline and LPG models, beyond just diesel vehicles. Applications can be submitted via the Vehicle Emissions Comprehensive Information System or by registered mail.






Incheon and Tianjin Sign MOU to Strengthen Economic Cooperation


On February 23, Incheon City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tianjin, China, to enhance economic cooperation between the Incheon Free Economic Zone and the Tianjin Free Trade Pilot Zone.

Under the agreement, the two cities will collaborate in various economic and investment fields, including attracting investment in biotechnology and healthcare and promoting international trade.

Tianjin, one of China’s four directly governed municipalities, has a population of 13.64 million. The city has maintained an active sister-city relationship with Incheon since 1993, a year after South Korea and China established diplomatic relations.





Family of the Late Kil Won-ok Donates 10 Million KRW to Incheon


On February 24, the family of the late Kil Won-ok, a victim of Japan’s wartime military sexual slavery, donated 10 million KRW to Incheon City.

The donation will support women’s rights facilities in Incheon and will be used to establish a healing space named Gil for survivors of sexual violence.

Kil Won-ok was a dedicated activist for human rights and justice for victims of military sexual slavery. She passed away on February 16 at the age of 97.
