Incheon City Allocates KRW 21.4 Billion for 'RISE' Project in 2025


Incheon Metropolitan City has announced an investment of 21.4 billion won from national and municipal funds into the 'Regional Innovation-driven University Support System' (RISE) project for 2025.

The RISE project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, aims to transfer part of the financial support authority to local governments, enabling universities to become the focal points of regional innovation.

The budget allocation for different sectors includes 5.9 billion won for cultivating future talent in Incheon's strategic industries, 4.9 billion won for industry-academia collaboration, and 2.7 billion won for lifelong education linked to job creation in Incheon.

The city will announce the details of this year's project and hold a briefing session this month. The participating universities will be selected next month, and the project will officially commence in May.





Incheon Port to Host Eight Global Cruises This Month


According to the Incheon Port Authority, eight global cruise ships are scheduled to arrive at Incheon Port this month.

This accounts for 25% of the 32 cruise ships scheduled to visit Incheon this year. 

Two of these eight cruise ships will operate with Incheon Port as their home port.

The IPA predicts that the extended stays of these cruises, including overnight cruises, will greatly benefit the local economy.




Incheon Seeks Trainees for Urban Agriculture Specialist Training


The Incheon Agricultural Technology Center is inviting applications from Incheon residents for the first session of the 2025 Urban Agriculture Specialist Training Program.

The very purpose of the program is to train urban agriculture specialists through both theoretical and practical courses. Participants who complete over 80 hours of training and obtain a national technical qualification in one of the eight specified fields, such as organic farming, seeds, agricultural chemistry, or landscaping, are eligible to apply for the Urban Agriculture Manager Certificate issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The training will take place every Thursday at the Center from April 3 to July 3. Applications can be submitted from March 10 to 14, either in person at the center or via email.





Incheon Child Welfare Center Opens Applications for Education Programs


The Incheon Child Welfare Center has opened applications for the first session of its 2025 child education programs. 

The session will run from March 17 to June 13, 2025, providing courses in board games, total art, creative reading and writing, and logical reading and writing. 

Elementary students in the Incheon area are eligible to apply. 

Each course will accommodate 8-10 students, with priority given to children from legal low-income families and those from households with an income below 160% of the median income.
