Incheon Begins Development of Ecotourism Hubs


Construction has begun on facilities to promote ecotourism in Baengnyeong and Daecheong Islands, located at the northernmost point of the West Sea. 

These initiatives include the Baengnyeong Ecotourism Experience Center and the Baengnyeong-Daecheong Geopark Center, both slated for completion by 2026. 

The Baengnyeong Center, funded with 9 billion won, aims to protect the spotted seal’s habitat through education and research. 

The Geopark Center, with a 5 billion won budget, will focus on advancing the islands’ recognition as UNESCO Global Geoparks.






Incheon Port Prepares for Expanded Cruise Schedule in 2023 


Incheon Metropolitan City will welcome the ‘Norwegian Spirit,’ a vessel from Norwegian Cruise Line, to its cruise terminal on April 2, carrying around 2,400 passengers and crew. 

This event signifies an increase in homeport cruise operations at Incheon Port, rising to 15 voyages this year—a substantial growth compared to last year. 

A total of 32 cruises are scheduled for this year, including 7 overnight stays, which are expected to attract significant tourism interest.







Incheon City Launches Intensified Suicide Prevention Campaigns 


Incheon Metropolitan City is strengthening its suicide prevention efforts this spring, a period marked by heightened risks. 

The global phenomenon known as "Spring Peak" is linked to seasonal changes, such as increased daylight and fine dust levels, as well as life transitions like graduation and job-seeking, which may lead to insomnia, depression, and feelings of deprivation, contributing to increased suicide rates. 

A city representative stated, "Our priority is to focus on high-risk periods and build a robust social safety net to prevent suicides.






Incheon City Conducts Safety Training for Senior Job Program Participants


Incheon Metropolitan City announced on the 27th that it has conducted safety training for approximately 300 participants in this year’s senior job program.

The training, which complies with Article 29 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, requires senior job program participants to complete at least six hours of safety education annually. This initiative aims to ensure a safe working environment and prevent potential workplace accidents.

In addition, Incheon City has allocated a total budget of 240 billion won for the senior job program this year, providing employment and social engagement opportunities to around 55,000 seniors, an increase of approximately 1,900 participants compared to last year.
