Incheon to Install Emergency Road Closure System in All ‘U-Shaped’ Underpasses by Year-End


Incheon Metropolitan City has announced plans to install emergency road closure system in all U-shaped underpasses within the city by the end of this year.

Since 2021, the city has been setting up these systems to prevent major accidents caused by flooding due to heavy rainfall, road freezing in winter, fires, and traffic accidents within underpasses.

The installation will cover 31 of the city’s 37 underpasses, excluding six that are level with ground roads.




Incheon Civil Service Exam Sees 7.9:1 Competition Ratio


The Incheon Metropolitan City has announced that the average competition ratio for the first civil service recruitment exam of the year was 7.9:1.

A total of 5,026 applicants have applied for 638 positions.

By region, the competition ratios stood at 8.4:1 for Incheon City and its eight districts, 4.5:1 for Ganghwa County, and 3.9:1 for Ongjin County.

For the most sought-after position, Grade 9 General Administration, approximately 2,400 applicants applied, resulting in a competition ratio of 9.9:1.




Incheon Urges Residents to Follow Preventive Measures Amid Japanese Encephalitis Alert


Following the nationwide Japanese encephalitis alert issued on March 27, Incheon Metropolitan City is urging residents to receive vaccinations and strictly adhere to mosquito prevention measures when engaging in outdoor activities.

According to the city, Japanese encephalitis is primarily transmitted by Culex tritaeniorhynchus mosquitoes, which feed on both animals and humans, mainly at night.

To prevent mosquito bites, residents are advised to minimize nighttime outdoor activities from April to October. Wearing loose-fitting, light-colored long sleeves and pants, as well as applying mosquito repellent to exposed skin, clothing, shoes, and socks, can be effective preventive measures.




Incheon Free Economic Zone Launches ‘Happy Urban Farm’ Project in Songdo


The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA) has launched the ‘Happy Urban Farm’ project in Songdo International City, specifically designed for foreign residents.

A total of 16 foreign resident teams will cultivate their assigned garden plots throughout the year, growing various crops until November 20.

IFEZA recently held an orientation session to provide guidance on farming techniques and how to purchase seedlings and seeds.
