Incheon’s Seunggi-cheon Shows Marked Improvement in Water Quality Following Odor Complaints
Yeonsu-gu in Incheon has announced a significant improvement in the water quality of Seunggi-cheon, a local stream that had long been the subject of frequent odor complaints.
According to Yeonsu-gu, the water quality of Seunggi-cheon was rated Grade 3 under the 2023 Framework Act on Environmental Policy standards for river living environments, but it improved to Grade 2 last year.
The improvement follows Yeonsu-gu’s takeover of full management of the 6.24-kilometer-long Seunggi-cheon from Namdong-gu in February 2023, along with the implementation of a series of projects aimed at improving water quality and reducing odors.
14 Postnatal Care Centers in Incheon to Provide Discounts for Low-Income and Near-Poverty Mothers
Incheon City has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Incheon branch of the Korea Postnatal Care Center Association to provide postpartum care support for vulnerable mothers.
Under the agreement, mothers who are recipients of basic livelihood assistance or belong to the near-poverty group will be eligible for partial fee reductions at 14 designated postnatal care centers across the city.
To qualify for the discount, applicants must submit relevant documents such as a certificate of beneficiary status or proof of near-poverty classification prior to admission.
The program targets mothers from households receiving government aid, those in the second-lowest income bracket, and families earning less than 60 percent of the median income. Incheon City expects approximately 1,600 mothers to benefit from the initiative this year.
Cheongna Medical Complex to Open Standalone Elementary School Instead of Combined K–12
A school facility in Cheongna Medical Complex Town in Incheon will change from an integrated K–12 school to a standalone elementary school.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority is revising parts of the development plans for Cheongna Medical Complex Town, including school-related facilities.
Initially, the IFEZ had planned to build an integrated elementary and middle school in response to a projected influx of families, driven by the construction of approximately 2,400 officetel units in the area.
After consulting with relevant organizations, the IFEZ plans to finalize and announce revisions to the development and implementation plans for Cheongna Medical Complex Town within the next month.
IFEZ to Break Ground This Month on RC Sports Stadium in Songdo Moonlight Park
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) will begin construction this month on a new radio-controlled (RC) sports stadium in Songdo International City.
The agency plans to build a 50,000-square-meter stadium in Songdo Moonlight Park at a total project cost of 3.5 billion won, with the goal of officially opening in early 2026.
The facility will feature an international-standard on-road circuit capable of hosting global competitions. The existing off-road circuit will be renovated and transformed into an interactive experience zone for visitors.
