Incheon to Honor First-Generation Korean Immigrants to Hawaii for 80th Liberation Anniversary


In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, Incheon Metropolitan City is hosting a special exhibition titled “Untold Histories, Names That Must Be Remembered.”

The exhibition, held at the former Jemulpo Club from April 30 to August 31, highlights the lives and legacy of first-generation Korean immigrants from Incheon who settled in Hawaii in the early 1900s.

A total of 65 historical artifacts are on display, including photographs, personal diaries, labor contracts, and everyday items—offering a compelling look into the challenges and resilience of those who built their lives far from home.







Incheon Conducts Elder Abuse Prevention & Human Rights Training for Care Facility Staff


Incheon Metropolitan City is conducting elder abuse prevention and human rights education for staff working at elder care and long-term care facilities.

This program aims to ensure a safe and respectful care environment for senior citizens. It is supported by the city government and implemented in cooperation with two specialized elder protection agencies and district-level authorities.

The training is scheduled to run from March through November, with a total of 16 sessions across 10 districts. Each district will host 1 to 4 sessions, and approximately 1,200 staff members are expected to participate.







Incheon Art Book Fair to Be Held on May 24 at Incheon Art Platform


Incheon Metropolitan City will host the 2025 Incheon Art Book Fair (IABF) on May 24 at the Incheon Art Platform, bringing together publications and bookstore contents from across the country.

Now in its 6th year, this year’s event is themed “BOOK WAVE, BOOK SOAR”—symbolizing Incheon’s maritime identity and the uplifting power of books.

The event will feature a lively Art Book Market with booths from 130 teams of publishers, booksellers, and authors. Visitors can also enjoy lectures, performances, exhibitions, and workshops, creating a vibrant cultural space where books and the arts come together.






Celebrate Family Month by Making Succulent Pots in a Traditional Hanok!


In celebration of Family Month, Incheon’s Agricultural Technology Center will host the May “Hanok Masil” program on May 30 at its traditional culture experience center, Inhuijae.(인희재)

The Hanok Masil program, organized in collaboration with local agricultural education farms, offers hands-on rural experiences and traditional games in a hanok (traditional Korean house) setting. This month’s theme is succulent pot crafting.

Open to all Incheon citizens, the workshop will take place in the center’s life science room. Registration is first come, first served, and will be available from May 19 to 23 through Incheon’s online reservation portal.







Dong-gu District conducts AIDS Prevention Education for Youth


Incheon’s Dong-gu District is conducting a three-part AIDS prevention education program for 1,030 students from 3 middle and high schools in the district for a total of 3 times until October 2nd. 

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, individuals in their 20s accounted for 10% of newly reported AIDS cases in 2023, highlighting the importance of early education for teenagers.

In response, the district is offering educational sessions through a school application system, in collaboration with instructors from the Korea Youth AIDS Prevention Center.






Namdong-gu Conducts Joint Flood Response Drill for Sorae Nonhyeon Underground Utility Tunnel


Namdong-gu District in Incheon has conducted a joint emergency drill with the management agency of the occupied facility in the Sorae Nonhyeon area to prepare for potential flooding in its underground facilities. 

This joint facility, considered critical national infrastructure, houses multiple essential services beneath the roads—such as power lines, telecommunications, district heating, and water pipes. The shared tunnel system was installed to improve urban aesthetics and ensure efficient underground utility maintenance.

Given that these facilities serve over 30,000 households in the area, the drill focused on emergency response coordination and evaluating backup supply plans from each utility agency in case of a disaster.
