Incheon Launches Survey on Mining and Manufacturing Businesses
The City of Incheon announced it will conduct the 2024 Mining and Manufacturing Survey for 35 days, from today through July 21, targeting approximately 4,200 businesses across the city.
This national approved survey, led by Statistics Korea and carried out jointly by Incheon City and its districts and counties, serves as a key resource for understanding the industrial structure and economic activity in the region.
Based on the results, the city plans to analyze changes in industrial production and employment trends, and actively utilize the data to shape future local economic policies.
Incheon to Complete Development of Three Key Tourist Destinations by Next Year
The City of Incheon announced that it plans to complete its development project for three key tourist destinations, launched in 2022 in collaboration with local districts and counties, by next year.
The three destinations—Open Port Area (Jung-gu), Seonjae Island (Ongjin-gun), and Gyeyang Araon (Gyeyang-gu)—were selected through a public contest.
The city is supporting the project with a total investment of 7.5 billion and is carrying out a structured development plan, including preliminary consultations, the operation of steering committees, and outcome reports.
Incheon City and Incheon TP to Host Root Industry Job Fair on June 23
Incheon City and Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP), in partnership with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, will host the second “Root Industry Job Fair” of 2025 on June 23 at Korea Polytechnics Incheon Campus.
Fifteen Incheon-based root industry companies will participate in the event, offering customized recruitment consultations and on-site interviews at their respective booths.
Root industry companies specialize in foundational manufacturing processes such as welding, mold making, surface treatment, injection molding, pressing, and precision/forming work.
Incheon Urges Timely Reporting of Water Tank Installations in Large Buildings
The Incheon Waterworks Division has reminded owners and managers of large-scale buildings that they must report any installed water tanks to their local waterworks office in accordance with amended legislation.
Under the revised Water Supply Act, which takes effect on July 17, 2024, newly installed water tanks must be reported within 30 days of installation. For tanks installed before the law’s effective date, the deadline for reporting is July 16.
Reporting is mandatory for buildings with a total floor area of 5,000㎡ or more, multipurpose buildings with over 2,000㎡, and apartment buildings with five floors or more.
Failure to report or submitting false information may result in fines of up to 1 million.
Incheon to Drive Bio Industry Growth Through Education Reform
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that Inha University has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s “2025 Advanced Industry Specialized University Support Program” in the field of bio industries.
Through this selection, the city has secured approximately 11.6 billion in national funding and plans to train over 280 skilled professionals in the bio industry from 2025 to 2029.
With Inha University’s designation, Incheon is expected to accelerate its efforts to become a global hub for the bio industry.
Incheon Considers Increasing e-Eum Cashback Rate
The City of Incheon is considering raising the cashback rate for its local digital gift certificate program, Incheon e-Eum.
Currently, users receive 10% cashback at affiliated stores with annual sales under 300 million, and 5% at those with sales between 300 million and 3 billion.
The city is reviewing the possibility of increasing the cashback rate for consumers using the platform at businesses in the 300 million to 3 billion range.
Incheon Office of Education Opens Temporary Service Desk for GED Applicants
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has temporarily opened an on-site service desk until June 20 to assist with applications for the elementary, middle, and high school General Equivalency Diploma (GED) exams.
Previously, applicants had to wait long periods and move between various departments due to the sequential processing of handwritten requests.
The new desk, located at the GED application center, now enables instant issuance of pass and score certificates through an electronic system, significantly reducing wait times and improving accessibility for the transportation-vulnerable.
