Incheon City to Expand Life Respect Safe Villages to 47 Locations
Incheon Metropolitan City is set to expand its community-based suicide prevention program, known as ‘Life Respect Safe Villages,’ in line with the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Fifth National Suicide Prevention Plan.
The initiative aims to lower the local suicide rate and promote a culture of life respect by mobilizing community resources at the town and neighborhood levels to identify and support high risk individuals early. The program includes tailored services, suicide prevention education and campaigns, and efforts to restrict access to means of suicide.
As of 2024, Incheon has established 23 Life Respect Safe Villages across all 10 districts and counties. The city plans to expand this to at least 47 locations, covering around 30 percent of Incheon's 156 districts, by 2025.
Incheon City to Host Job Fair for Women
Incheon Metropolitan City will host the ‘Incheon Women’s Job Fair’ on June 24 at the Central Hall of Incheon City Hall.
This event marks the third installment of the 2025 Incheon year-round job fair series and is designed to support women seeking employment and promote meaningful job opportunities.
A total of 30 companies will participate in the on-site recruitment section, aiming to hire around 240 individuals in various fields including administration, manufacturing, service, marketing, and development.
Yeongjong Sky Library Offers Mobile History Classes for Underserved Children
Yeongjong Sky Library, a branch of Michuhol Public Library in Incheon Metropolitan City, has been selected for the 2025 Humanities on the Road program and will operate mobile history classes titled ‘Play! Our History, Our Culture’ from June 19 to September 25 for children at the Incheon Boramae Children’s Center.
The 2025 Humanities on the Road program is a nationwide initiative hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Arts Council Korea. It aims to promote the values of humanities in daily life by connecting lectures and hands-on experiences through local cultural facilities such as libraries.
The ‘Play! Our History, Our Culture’ program by Yeongjong Sky Library was selected as one of 700 programs nationwide. It will provide children in welfare facilities with opportunities to explore history beyond the classroom through field-based learning experiences.
Incheon City Theater Company to Present Special Staged Readings
In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the Incheon City Theater Company will host special staged readings aimed at fostering closer engagement with the public.
The featured works include internationally acclaimed classics Uncle Vanya and The Widows.
The performances are free of charge and open to audiences of middle school age and older. Advance reservations are required and can be made through the Incheon Culture and Arts Center website or NTicket.
Incheon City Opens ‘Smart Senior Centers,’ Ushering in a New Era of Digital Elderly Welfare
Incheon City has held a ceremony to mark the opening of its ‘Incheon-style Smart Senior Centers.’
The initiative was selected as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s 2024 pilot project and has since been implemented. Last year, Incheon completed the installation of 100 smart senior centers, which underwent a trial operation from January to June this year.
The Incheon-style Smart Senior Centers feature three core services: two-way video communication systems, smart daily life care, and smart healthcare solutions.
Incheon Women’s Welfare Center to Recruit Students for 2025 Social Education Program
The Incheon Metropolitan City Women’s Welfare Center will begin accepting applications on June 23 for the third term of its 2025 social education program.
Courses will run from July 7 to September 27, offering 97 classes in areas such as professional skills training, practical and entrepreneurship programs, cultural academy courses, short term lectures, and Korean language classes. A total of 1,738 participants will be accepted.
Incheon residents aged 18 or older are eligible to apply. Registration will take place in two stages: priority registration and general registration, based on applicant eligibility.
