Incheon Expands Nighttime Emergency Childcare Service Through December
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will expand the operation of its ‘Nighttime Emergency Childcare Service’ from September to December to address childcare gaps for dual-income and low-income families.
The initiative is linked to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family’s nationwide pilot program for nighttime emergency childcare services. By combining this effort with Incheon’s own i-Plus policy, the city aims to establish a more comprehensive childcare safety net.
With the integration of the pilot program and the city’s initiative, childcare blind spots are expected to be reduced, allowing more citizens to benefit from stable and reliable childcare services.
Incheon Sends 55,000 Bottles of Water to Drought-Stricken Gangneung
Incheon City is providing emergency support to Gangneung, which is suffering from severe drought, by delivering 55,000 bottles of bottled water, including its locally produced ‘Incheon Sky Water.’
The shipment includes 5,200 bottles of 1.8-liter Incheon Sky Water and 50,000 bottles of 2-liter bottled water, produced by the Incheon Waterworks Headquarters.
The supplies will be distributed to Gangneung residents facing daily hardships due to water shortages.
Navy to Host the 75th Commemorative Event of the Battle of Incheon
The Republic of Korea Navy, in partnership with Incheon Metropolitan City, will host the 75th Commemorative Event of the Battle of Incheon from September 12 to 15 at Inner Port Piers 8 and nearby venues.
The event will highlight the historic significance of the operation and honor the sacrifice of veterans who contributed to its success.
From September 13 to 15, Navy ships will be open to the public at Piers 8, while a security exhibition will operate at the Sangsang Platform 1883 Gaehang Plaza.
Incheon Grand Park Hosts DIY Wooden Pet Supplies Program
Incheon Grand Park will host a hands-on program allowing participants to create wooden items for their pets.
The program, titled ‘DIY Wooden Pet Supplies for Our Pets,’ will be held every Saturday from September 6 through October 25.
Participants can make one item from a dog house, a cat house, or a pet bed using eco-friendly wood.
The program is designed for beginners with no prior woodworking experience and is open to anyone in high school or older.
Incheon’s Namdong-gu Opens Safe School Route Using School Grounds
Namdong-gu in Incheon has created a safe school route, marking the first time the district has utilized school grounds for this purpose.
To improve student safety on the way to and from school, Namdong-gu removed the fence of Yaksan Elementary School in Ganseok 3-dong and built a 1.5-meter-wide, 100-meter-long safe passage.
The school, which has 587 students, had long faced safety and accessibility concerns due to narrow roads, illegal parking, and other obstacles. Construction began in August and the new route is now open for student use.
Namdong-gu Hosts Dementia Awareness Event Through Smart App
Namdong-gu in Incheon will hold a special event for participants of its ‘Smart App Dementia Prevention Class,’ run via the mobile healthcare platform Maelly, in celebration of Dementia Awareness Day in September.
The event runs from September 8 to 19. Fifty participants who complete all of the app’s ‘Today’s Activities’ will be selected by lottery to receive prizes.
The initiative encourages continued engagement with the dementia prevention program and aims to promote a positive awareness of dementia.
Ganghwa-gun to Launch Direct M-Bus Route to Seoul Station
Ganghwa-gun in Incheon City plans to open a new express M-Bus route directly connecting Ganghwa to Seoul Station, cutting travel time to under one hour.
The bus will use the Gimpo Hangang Expressway to ensure punctual service and minimize stops.
The new route is expected to save local residents 50 to 60 minutes on trips to Seoul.
