Incheon Opens 2026 National Children’s Safety Drawing Contest
Incheon Metropolitan City will hold the 2026 Children’s Safety Drawing Contest to promote safety awareness in everyday life. Elementary school students from grades 1 through 6 nationwide can participate in the contest. Drawing may be on themes focused on preventing accidents and recognizing everyday risks. Submissions will be accepted through the city website from January 21 to February 20. Judging will be based on relevance, creativity, and expression, and 12 winners will receive awards from the mayor of Incheon.
Incheon Arts Center Announces 1H Lineup for 2026 Coffee Concert Series
The Incheon Culture & Arts Center has announced the lineup for the first half of its 2026 Coffee Concert series, running from March to July. Unlike typical classical matinee concerts, the series features curated programs across genres such as jazz, dance, traditional Korean music, and theater. This season will include tango, contemporary dance, fusion Korean music, classical, and jazz crossovers, offering a different style each month.
Ongjin-gun to Sharply Cut Bottled Water Island Transport Subsidies
Incheon’s Ongjin-gun will significantly reduce transport subsidies for bottled water to prevent the abuse of maritime freight subsidies for essential goods to islands. The list of supported essential items will also be reduced from 37 to 27 to reflect current conditions. The county said it has revised its subsidy plan and will strengthen oversight starting this year. As a result, total subsidies will drop from 300 million won last year to 200 million won this year.
Seo-gu Strengthens Health Care for Vulnerable Residents Amid Cold Wave
Incheon’s Seo-gu is strengthening winter health care measures to protect vulnerable residents during the ongoing cold spell. Visiting nurses are delivering cold-weather supplies, checking blood pressure and blood sugar, and providing safety guidance and health education to recipient households. The Seo-gu Public Health Center had already distributed 115 cold-wave response kits to extremely vulnerable households by late December and is continuing to distribute nearly 5,000 winter supplies.
Gyeyang-gu Dementia Center Provides Cognitive Health Education for Seniors
The Gyeyang-gu Dementia Care Center has launched on-site education to improve cognitive health and raise awareness of dementia prevention among seniors participating in employment programs. The district said the program targets seniors participating in the 2026 senior employment and social activity support program. The training was held five times from the 14th to the 20th, with 1,453 seniors taking part.
Incheon Recruiting Organizations to Run Urban Farming Programs
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting organizations to run urban farming programs for this year. Applications will be accepted from January 22 through February 6. The programs include community urban gardens and therapeutic garden learning support projects, targeting urban agriculture groups in Incheon. Incheon Port Container Volume Expected to Rebound by 3% This Year
Container traffic at Incheon Port is expected to recover slightly this year as external uncertainties ease. At a trade and cargo outlook seminar hosted by the Incheon Port Authority, an analyst from the Korea Maritime Institute predicted container volume would exceed last year by more than 3 percent, reaching about 3.57 million TEUs. The Incheon Port Authority has set this year’s target at 3.56 million TEUs. However, oil cargo volume is expected to decrease slightly due to weaker energy demand from the economic slowdown.
