Ganghwa-gun Raises Youth Age Limit To 49 To Address Regional Decline
Incheon’s Ganghwa-gun has revised an ordinance, expanding the age definition of youth to 18-49. The county council passed the revision to the Ganghwa-gun Youth Basic Ordinance at a plenary session. The age definition had previously been 19-39. Ganghwa-gun plans to increase the number of beneficiaries of youth policies to respond more flexibly to population decline and promote regional revitalization. Ongjin-gun has already defined youth as those aged 18–49 since July 2023 and is implementing policies focused on employment expansion, education programs, and housing stability.
Incheon Office Of Education Launches Nation’s First ‘School Violence Officers’
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will deploy 20 “school violence officers” to school sites, the first initiative of its kind nationwide. Unlike school safety officers who focus on student safety during commuting hours, school violence officers are designed to enhance fairness and professionalism in handling school violence cases. Unlike investigators who were previously dispatched temporarily, the officers will be stationed full-time at schools with frequent incidents. Their duties include separating and managing offending students, guiding maladjusted students, and preventing school violence.
Namdong-gu To Support Interpretation And Translation Fees For Small Businesses
Incheon’s Namdong-gu will support interpretation and translation fees for small and medium-sized businesses seeking overseas markets. Each eligible business in Namdong-gu may receive support of up to 400,000 won, with no limit on the number of applications. The support covers interpretation for overseas buyer visits and consultations, as well as translation services for company profiles, contracts, and other export-related documents. Applications can be submitted through the Namdong-gu Business Support website.
Police Step Up Preventive Safety Measures At Cheongna Haneul Bridge
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency has inspected safety prevention measures at Cheongna Haneul Bridge, which opened on January 5. Cheongna Haneul Bridge is a 4.68-kilometer-long, 30-meter-wide bridge connecting Yeongjong Island and Cheongna International City. The bridge was built at a cost of 767.7 billion won. Unlike the Incheon Bridge and Yeongjong Bridge, motorcycles are allowed to cross the bridge, and a 3.5- to 4-meter-wide shared pedestrian and bicycle path has also been installed. These features have raised ongoing concerns about safety accidents and noise complaints. Police said they will closely monitor the site and actively crack down on violations in cooperation with relevant agencies.
Sam-san Wholesale Market Implements Holiday Stabilization Measures
The Sam-san Agricultural Product Wholesale Market Management Office will implement special Lunar New Year supply stabilization measures through February 16. The measures aim to ease household food price burdens and ensure smooth distribution of agricultural products ahead of the holiday. The plan was prepared to support both consumers and farmers amid prolonged high inflation and weakened consumption. Under the measures, a total of 2,055 tons of key holiday produce, including apples and pears, will be supplied through the market.
Incheon City Dance Company Seeks New Talent To Lead Creation And Performance
The Incheon Culture & Arts Center will publicly recruit new members for the Incheon City Dance Company. The company is recognized for its high-quality productions and wide-ranging activities that have expanded the horizons of Korean dance. The recruitment will select one resident assistant choreographer and one performing member. Applicants for the assistant choreographer position must submit a 10-minute video of choreography work created within the past five years. The second round will include a presentation of a job performance plan and an in-person interview. Applications will be accepted from February 10 through 6 p.m. on February 12. The assistant choreographer position accepts applications by email, while the performing member position requires registered mail submission.
