Incheon Seeks Public Consensus On Expanding Resource Circulation Centers
Incheon Metropolitan City will operate a public awareness campaign to expand resource circulation centers this year to raise public understanding on the issue and the need to reduce household waste. The 2026 Public Awareness Improvement Program for Resource Circulation Center Expansion is designed to encourage citizen engagement and voluntary participation in waste reduction, as the ban on direct landfill disposal of household waste in the metropolitan area has stabilized through joint efforts by the city and district governments. As part of the initiative, Incheon plans to hold a video contest and student discussion forums, while selecting and managing eco-creators.
Old Downtown Traffic Efficiency Improved With Intelligent Transport Systems
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced the results of its Intelligent Transport System–based Smart Village promotion project. The project was launched last year to improve poor traffic conditions in old downtown areas and address urban imbalance. It targeted Ganghwa-gun, Ongjin-gun’s Yeongheung Island, Jung-gu, and Dong-gu, installing 25 AI-based smart intersections, left-turn responsive signals at four intersections, and real-time signal information at 81 intersections. Full operation began in January. A key achievement includes the installation of 12 AI-based smart intersections along a six-kilometer stretch from Gapgot Guard Post to Ganghwa Stadium Intersection, where chronic congestion had occurred, with optimized signal cycles applied through cooperation with the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency and the Korea Road Traffic Authority.
Incheon Library And Four Branches Offers Regular Courses In First Half
Incheon Library operates regular educational courses each year to promote lifelong learning and support self-development across all stages of life. In the first half of this year, a total of 43 courses will be offered. By library, programs include 10 courses at Incheon Library, 10 at Cheongna Lake Library, seven courses at Cheongna International Library, nine courses at Yeongjong Sky Library, and seven courses at Majeon Library. The courses cover reading, language, arts, and humanities, and are designed to accommodate participants ranging from young children to senior citizens.
Incheon Offers Up To 30% Cashback On Agricultural And Fishery Products
Incheon Metropolitan City will hold an Onnuri Gift Certificate cashback event from February 10 to 14 to promote traditional markets and domestic agricultural and fishery products ahead of the Lunar New Year. The event will take place at 22 traditional markets across Incheon. Cashback for agricultural and livestock products will be available at eight markets, including Ganghwa Pungmul Market, Hyundai Market, Seokbawi Market, Okryeon Market, Incheon Moraenae Market, Bupyeong Kkang Market, Jakjeon Market, and Gangnam Market.
Incheon Activates Emergency Medical System To Prevent Holiday Care Gaps
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced it will operate emergency medical situation rooms at city and district public health centers and fully activate an emergency medical response system to minimize disruptions during the Lunar New Year holiday. Throughout the holiday, emergency rooms at 21 emergency medical institutions, five emergency medical facilities, and two pediatric emergency centers will operate normally around the clock. Air and physician-staffed ambulances will remain on standby to ensure uninterrupted emergency treatment.
To ease emergency room congestion and allow patients with mild symptoms to receive care safely, seven Moonlight Children’s Hospitals and 35 public late-night pharmacies will also operate during the holiday.
Incheon Customs To Strengthen Inspections On Imported School Supplies
Incheon Main Customs Office will strengthen import clearance inspections on school supplies ahead of March when the new school year begins and demand for such products increase. The inspection period will last five weeks and cover 14 items, including stationery, erasers, correction tape, toys, and backpacks. For toys and school supplies subject to the Special Act on the Safety of Children’s Products, customs will closely examine safety certification compliance and potential intellectual property violations.
