‘Incheon Now’ Publishes 100th Issue After 16 Years

Incheon Metropolitan City’s official English-language newsletter, Incheon Now, has reached its 100th issue, 16 years after it was first launched. 

The special 100th issue features a series titled “People Who Have Shared the Journey with Incheon Now,” including interviews with leaders of 15 international organizations based in Songdo, as well as stories from professors and students at Incheon Global Campus and foreign residents who have made Incheon their home. 

Launched in 2010, Incheon Now has been published every other month, providing readers at diplomatic missions, international organizations, international schools and overseas communities with news about Incheon’s policies, culture, tourism and everyday life.

Incheon Expands Transportation and Community Infrastructure in Geomdan

Incheon Metropolitan City is stepping up efforts to address local issues by directly visiting residential community settings to inspect local issues such as traffic congestion and a shortage of cultural and sports facilities. 

The initiative is aimed at sharing the latest developments in Geomdan, where rapid population growth and new-town development are increasing demand for public services, while incorporating residents’ requests into city policies. 

Incheon says it will actively seek national funding and make use of various grants to provide the resources needed for local projects.

Incheon to Inspect 228 Food Businesses Ahead of Chuseok

Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct joint hygiene inspections of 228 businesses that manufacture or sell ritual and gift foods commonly purchased for the Chuseok holiday. 

The inspections will run from today through September 4, with inspection teams made up of officials from the city and its districts and counties. 

The businesses include manufacturers of traditional holiday foods such as hangwa, yugwa and yakgwa, as well as rice cakes, tofu and dumplings. Also subject to inspection are businesses that prepare and sell traditional dishes such as jeon and japchae. 

Incheon to Conduct Inspections to Improve Cadastral Survey Accuracy

Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct inspections of cadastral surveying operations from September 1 through October 20 to improve accuracy and ensure the reliability of survey results. 

To that end, the inspections will be jointly carried out by the city, its 10 districts and counties, and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority to strengthen oversight and fairness. 

The focus will be on ensuring the quality of cadastral survey results and checking whether local surveying companies are operating properly. 

As an initial step, inspectors will conduct a rigorous sample review of 394 cases out of 1,790 cadastral surveys completed over the past year.

Incheon Wraps Up Mentoring Program for 100 Dads

Incheon Metropolitan City has successfully wrapped up its “100 Dads Corps” On-Site Parenting Mentoring Program for 2026 on August 29 at Bandi Sesang. 

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Incheon Metropolitan City, with the Incheon branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association serving as the organizer. It brought together fathers with children between the ages of three and nine. 

The second part featured intensive mentoring for fathers while their children took part in a forest activity.

yeyang-gu Pilots Vertical Parking Lines at Public Parking Lot

The Incheon Gyeyang City Facilities Management Corporation says it has introduced “vertical parking lines” on a pilot basis, the first such initiative among local governments in Incheon. 

The first facility to implement the new parking line system is the Gyeongin National University of Education Station Transfer Parking Lot, which is heavily used by commuters. 

Unlike conventional parking lines painted only on the ground, vertical parking lines extend from the parking space onto the wall or pillar at the back, creating a three-dimensional guide for drivers. 

The system is expected to make it easier for drivers to check their position using their side and rearview mirrors and rearview cameras, improving convenience and safety when backing into a parking space.
