Incheon Conducts Fall Safety Inspections to Prevent Public Disasters

The Bioprocessing Technology Training Center, established last year in Songdo International City, is providing training programs for 2,528 people this year, according to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ).

The four-story center, with a total floor area of 6,600 square meters, opened on the Yonsei University Songdo International Campus last November and is equipped with training facilities that meet Good Manufacturing Practice, or GMP, standards.

Yonsei University’s K-NIBRT project team is running customized programs for both employees and job seekers to train practical talent capable of meeting the needs of the bio industry.

IFEZ expects the training center, along with training infrastructure provided by Samsung Biologics, Celltrion and Cytiva Korea, to further strengthen the competitiveness of the Songdo Bio Cluster.

Business Stabilization Funds to be Provided for Small Businesses Ahead of Chuseok

Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct on-site safety inspections to prevent major public disasters during the fall season.

The inspections will be carried out at 14 major public facilities over five days from September 14 to 22.

The inspections are aimed at directly assessing safety management at facilities closely connected to residents’ daily lives, including bridges, fire station buildings, agricultural and livestock wholesale markets, research facilities, public sewage treatment facilities, public parking lots and sports facilities, while identifying and addressing potential risks in advance.

They will focus on checking the structural safety of urban infrastructure following the summer heat waves and heavy rainfall, as well as carefully assessing actual conditions ahead of a period when outdoor activities and facility use are expected to increase due to the fall season and the Chuseok holiday.

Incheon to Implement Special Measures to Manage Household Waste During Chuseok

Incheon Metropolitan City will provide 50.5 billion won in business stabilization funds to small business owners facing increased demand for financing ahead of Chuseok.

Eligible recipients are small enterprises and small business owners with businesses based in Incheon, with loans of up to 50 million won per business.

The city will subsidize part of the interest costs for businesses that take out the loans, and expects around 1,700 small businesses to benefit from the financing program.

Earlier this year, the city provided 100 billion won in business stabilization funds to small businesses in January and another 114.5 billion won in March.

Incheon to Implement Special Measures to Manage Household Waste During Chuseok

Incheon Metropolitan City will implement special measures to manage household waste during the upcoming Chuseok holiday to prevent waste from piling up and causing inconvenience to residents.

The Chuseok Holiday Household Waste Management Plan will focus on establishing and operating a rapid waste collection system for the four-day holiday period from September 24 to 27.

Major environmental facilities will also operate on flexible schedules to ensure efficient waste disposal.

The Cheongna and Songdo Environmental Resource Centers and the Songdo Resource Circulation Center will accept waste as usual during the holiday period, except on September 25 and 27.

The Sudokwon Landfill Site and the Incheon Southern Regional Metropolitan Resource Recovery Center will accept waste only on September 24.

Songam Art Museum to Offer ‘Songam Art Academy’ for Adults

Incheon Metropolitan City’s Songam Art Museum will offer a series of adult lectures for Incheon residents interested in Korean traditional art.

The Songam Art Academy will take place at the museum every Wednesday from October 7 to 21.

Held under the theme “A Journey Through Buddhist Art with Curators,” the lectures will be led by researchers who previously worked at the Songam Art Museum.

They will introduce the history of Korean Buddhist art and stories behind artifacts in the museum’s collection.

The lectures will be held every Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
